If Bama makes it to the playoffs Auburn doesn't want to back to Atlanta. No one would show up for the game...but LSU fans would.

Likewise, if it's between AU and LSU for the Cotton Bowl, why not send LSU? Much easier trip to Arlington from LA than AL. Gus will be recruiting for Arkansas. The LSU Tigers make the most sense. Make the smart business decision Bowl reps!!!

Probably impossible. From the college football playoff website

quote:

When not hosting semifinals, the Cotton, Fiesta and Peach Bowls will welcome displaced conference champions and the top-ranked champion from a non-contract conference. The highest-ranked available teams will fill any other berths. The selection committee will make the pairings.

I don't see us being ranked high enough to crack the top 12.

LSU and AU have the same number of losses and LSU beat AU in a head to head. We are closer. We would bring in more money and THAT is what the bowl system is all about.

I would love to see us in the Cotton.

Probably so. But at this point we're just talking about meaningless exhibition games. The most important thing is setting up the best matchup to generate the largest revenue. If some politicking has to take place in the polls to get the matchups the bowl reps want, well....

Do you think the peach bowl wants a game with UCF who will only bring 15k fans and disappointed AU fanbase? Give LSU a call!

Or let's just go to the Cotton bowl. Shreveport alone might send more fans than all of Alabama

Yeah, bama lost to a team who won nothing. Bama's best win, against LSU?

OSU conference champions
Best win? over an undefeated Wisconsin.

A 30 point loss to Iowa is also relevant.

I believe it gets forgotten with a win tonight.

Bowl Reps don’t make the decisions. The NCAA does

Auburn had a better season and better resume. Besides, they could end up in the Orange. LSU is just not ranked high enough.

The plyoff committee picks all NY6 Bowls, as much as I would love for us to go to the Cotton or Peach we are just not going to be ranked high enough!!

Ohio State might jump Bama and make the CFP. One of their loses was to OU.

Maybe, but it would mean Ohio St would leap from #8 to #4.

Bama only has to move up from #5 to #4 with Wisconsin dropping out of the top 4 after losing tonight.

I think that is more likely.

Two key factors: Bama doesn’t have a great resume. And, I don’t see the B1G being left out of the CFP.

I hope you're right. Right now I'm just hoping Wisconsin can come back and win.

Assuming Clemson & Ohio State hold on to win, I think the final four will be:

1. Clemson

2. Oklahoma

3. Georgia

4. Alabama

I have OSU at 4.

Certainly not a lock, though.

Bama isn't making the playoff. The Citrus Bowl is probably where LSU should and deserves to go. It's a New Year's Day bowl and a decent bowl. Michigan State would be a good opponent, so would Notre Dame. How about we get behind our Tigers and support them in whatever bowl they go to? But I like your thought process in that you are supporting the team and want the highest profile bowl.
