I agree and I don't think the numbers tell the whole story. There are a lot of really good players that haven't even arrived on campus yet. Watch for Curry and Chase to have an impact on the offense and Joseph will push for playing time at CB (was the #5 CB before switching to safety his SR year).

Chaisson is going to blow up this year and I'd keep an eye on Phillips who likely will take the starting spot next to White. He's more physically talented than Taylor, but was behind on the mental part last season.

Was it "sad" when ESPN didn't rank UCF or Mississippi State in its preseason poll last year? Was it "happy" all of those years that LSU was ranked in the top 10 and finished lower than that in a preseason poll? Who gives a shite?

I assume this is just skill positions which we knew we were losing heavily in.

Yeah when you lose your QB, top 2 RBs and top 2 WRs this is sort of expected

We return 7 starters on defense. We don't lack experience.

No but this proves the youth excuse last year was wrong. This is the year that the team will be plenty young. That might not be the end of the world in my opinion but it should have never been used as an excuse in 2017.

they werent young, they were inexperienced older players... (career backups, that got their shots because we didnt recruit someone better than they were)

This year at WR we have an extreme abundance at talent...and again, no experience..

I wonder what these stats were in past years and if fan expectations reflected that.

Good question. IDK, but my opinion is that we are pretty solid with the exception of elite RB and the obvious question marks at QB. Obviously those two are a big deal so how that shakes out is critical. The other would be CB depth which we whiffed on in the final days of recruiting. I do have high hopes for Joseph though.

Like I said, the OP was an interesting discussion point, but what it means depends on your assessment of who steps into those spots and the 800LB gorilla of how our staff develops and utilizes them.
