Scott Long on Travonte Valentine
Posted by Penrod on 8/17/16 at 6:31 am881
In more positive football news, defensive tackle Travonté Valentine continues to shine in LSU’s practices. While on ESPN radio, LSU Associate AD Michael Bonnette commented on Valentine by noting the following, “Saw him practice. There’s guys that play on Sundays who will have a tough time blocking him.” In yesterday’s press conference with the media, Miles described Valentine as “thick, strong, tough to block” and added that he “didn’t see him today because he was not with us, going to school. He had a morning class.” After season-ending injuries to Christian LaCouture and Isaiah Washington, Miles said they are focused on prepping Valentine to be ready for the Tigers’ season opener. He then added that Valentine “came in good shape and we’re giving him some extra time so he can be ready to play.” Personally, I am extremely excited from what I’m hearing about this young man and can hardly wait to see him in action against Wisconsin in 17 days.
I was skeptical, but maybe all the hype was true.

I still don't believe he exists. He's like Bigfoot or a unicorn.
Sounds like he's too good to keep on the bench. Gilmore will do but it would be awesome if Valentine was ready for the opener. Just imagine what guys like Beckwith and Key can do with all the space he'll create. Love it.

Think we can retire the unicorn and Bigfoot jokes now :)

Well I guess you never watched The Six Million Dollar Man then. Clearly BF exists.

There's a reason we took him back after being kicked out of two schools.

That sounds rapey.

Wait, I was told he wasn't practicing because he was in school busy with class. What gives?
Instead of practicing twice a day, he could only practice once a day when school was in session. But on Friday and monday when LSU was closed he was able to practice with the team.
