went from targeting to incomplete pass. Yet White's was targeting. The SEC has no credibility.

Hit him before the ball got there. Should be pass interference at least

No pass interference? Was the ball tipped?

Nope. Nothing to see there. Keep in mind this was with the "other team" from Alabama. Bunch of Auburn grads up here, too.

that is a perfect example of targetting...

led with crown of helmet...check
to head or neck...check
his head snaps from the blow...unlike fitzgeralds

The SEC sucks

Led with the helmet to the ear hole. Arms came last.

Devin led with hands to the chest and seemingly never contacted above the shoulders. If he did, it was slight and completely incidental.

Let's see:
1. Lowered head crown of the helmet
2. First contact was crown of helmet to WR helmet
3. Forcible contact
4. Driving upward motion into the head
5. Attempted launch although poorly executed

Yep . . . no targeting.

Would the same SEC staffer been the one that reviewed the Alabama, Auburn and Devin White targets?

I've brought this play up a few times now. If there is one we can bitch about it's this one. How in the hell that gets overturned and White gets a confirmed targeting I will never understand.

We've been hosed plenty of times by officials at Auburn too. No LSU fan will ever forget Refgate 2006.

Wow. Defenseless player. Leading with helmet, arm and shoulder to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area. Textbook targeting.

I think Alleva should post on LSU's website all of the targeting calls, both upheld and overturned, in the SEC this year, along with some like Wilson's that weren't called, if the SEC persists in holding White ineligible for the first half of the Bama game. If anything, it will lead to calls for better administration of the rule.

This one looks different because the WR is defenseless. However, I still don't know if I would call it "targeting" which is a bad name for the rule to begin with. "Targeting" implies intent and I think this guy was aiming for the shoulder.

They need to have a different rule and just call it incidental but dangerous contact to the head and neck or something, 15 yard personal foul and no suspension. If someone actually launches for the kill shot at the head or clubs the QB in the head I'm o.k. with calling it targeting and suspending them.

The most frustrating part about all of this is that the rule was created with a certain intent and is now being translated in a way that is different from that. That play by DW is in no way the type of play that they had in mind when they created it.

Right! And you can tell he was hit in the head by the way his head snaps back. Watch on DW’s hit. The head never snaps back because he was hit in the chest.

Common theme still remains ... the state of Alabama

Song remains the same every year it would appear.

Gosh, looks like leading with the crown of the head. But his name is not Devin White and he does not play for LSU, so incomplete pass.
