A familiar face to Saints and LSU fans made his way back to the practice facility on Tuesday: wide receiver Travin Dural. He was most recently with the team this summer, and was waived in June. Soon after Dural was waived, he went to wide receivers coach Curtis Johnson’s house.

His wife, Angel, is renowned for her cooking, Johnson said, and Saints players often come over for a meal. While there, the two had a conversation about Dural’s future. “I told him he was going to get another opportunity,” Johnson said Tuesday. “I didn't know if it was going to be with us or who it was going to be with, but he is a good football player. I always thought he could make a team and be somewhere.”

Saints coach Sean Payton said the team felt there was a good chance that they’d be able to eventually get Dural with the team again. "He’s been training and we felt when we released him, there was a good chance there’d be a day like today where we were going to be able to bring him back," Payton said Tuesday. "Fortunately we were able to."

Payton added: “He’s familiar with what we’re doing. We were down numbers-wise.” Dural has been with the Saints off and on since 2017, and broke his humerus in last year’s training camp.

Dural started for three years as a Tiger, suiting up in 46 games and recorded 100 catches for 1,716 yards receiving and had 13 receiving touchdowns.

With the talent at WR LSU produces, seems odd he can't crack the 53.

Not sure what LSU producing talent has to do with one guy not making a 53 man roster as we’ve had plenty of former WRs not make a 53 man roster. Regardless of all that, Dural never seemed like he got his speed back after tearing his hamstring against Ole Miss, speed being his most important attribute.

I just thought he'd be able to hang on somewhere. Im no expert, just surprised. I also don't remember that injury to be honest.
