Saban cant coach when talent is equal

He has shown again that when the teams match up well together, he cannot out coach anybody. Just like his stint in the NFL. He is a great HC because of his recruiting and that is IT!!

I’ve been saying this for years. He’s a decent coach, but not great as some suggest. His strength lies in recruiting; however, that is part of the college coaching equation.

Not only do you have to have equal talent, but you also have to have a coach and coaching staff that is not afraid of Saban and Bama. and who can put a game plan together against Bama. Dabo is that times 100. Our coaching staff is not. Kirby has been close, but then he chokes at the end. Jimbo may be that. we shall see. No one else in the SEC is even close. Until that changes, Bama will continue to win the SEC and Clemson will continue to be the only team that can match and play them on an elite level.

This is a perfect example of what kind of coach Saban is. Going into the 2011 season Miles and Saban were neck and neck as far as wins and losses. Once Saban starting killing everybody in recruiting he started his run. He is a great coach don't get me wrong, but a big piece of it is having superior talent.
Think about the 2003 team here, they had the best talent in the nation. Makes it easier is all I am saying.

He let his staff go to crap because of some strange fear that the program was slipping in recruiting. He's got an elite posse of bagmen but was foolish to let Tosh and Locksley coordinate his units.
Their defense was vulnerable all year long. The signs were there. Teams were forced out of their game plans so early because Tua and their wide receiver group could score so fast.
What's scary is how much more sound they will be on offense with Enos running things next year.
