Rules experts, before York’s kick.....
Posted by GPLebl on 12/18/20 at 9:28 am229
The previous play was a pass to Moore near the LSU sideline. Why was the ball spotted closer to the middle of the field, instead of directly on the left hash mark?? BTW, Ole Miss can STTDB!

I thought the previous play was a handoff to Curry. Maybe I’m misremembering, but I thought his forward progress was stopped closer to the middle of the field and was pushed towards the hash mark.

previous play was a pass to Moore for a loss of 1 yard.

I was doubting myself too, but I watched the replay this morning. Curry ran on 2nd down. LSU called timeout then threw a pass to Koy Moore where he caught the ball and was tackled outside the hash near the sidelines. Same thing happened to Florida and their kicker had to kick from the right hash. Just thought it was weird.

I thought the previous play was Johnson keeping it and sliding to center it up?

I thought this too. Maybe that was before the half?

That was before the half. I’m no rules expert but I thought if you were tackled outside of the hash the ball was placed just inside that same hash.

FWIW....from 57 yards out, the affect on the size of the angle from the difference in the hash mark to where the ball was placed is negligible.
I agree but I’m also curious about the spot of the ball

Just watched it. The 3rd down play was a pass to Moore outside the left hash. So to answer your question OP.... I have no clue why it wasn't spotted at the hash. It looks like our whole team is already lined up at the spot, and the ref just placed it in front of Skinner without thinking. But there is no way they can goof that bad, right? I feel like I am missing something
I also noted earlier in the game, we had an incomplete pass to Tre Bradford, clock stopped. Then for no apparent reason it started again. We punted. Basically stole 10 seconds from UF, which could have been nice for them to have at the end of the game.

I was thinking that too, but if you watch the sequence again, after the Moore pass, no timeout was called right away, the refs hurried to spot the ball and spotted it towards the center of the field, LSU was going to snap it, then Florida called the timeout. Weird!

mattered to the FL kicker on the 50 yarder
Y’all some drunk MF’rs up in hear if you don’t remember the play the OP is describing. Was def a swing pass to Moore to left side. I think the officials messed up spotting the ball as it should’ve been on left hash. Another blunder covered up by winning. My take is most all of York’s missses have been from right of center so I was good wit it regardless.

No, no it’s not. And people like you who speak in absolutes about things they’re absolutely wrong about are the absolute worst.
