Mett had to struggle with inadequate OC/QB coaching, leaving him to experience tough SEC defenses that left him a bit less than ready to shine.

Rivers, who has not been thrown to the wolves yet, has a chance to get groomed by a real strong QB/OC coach and to build towards maximizing his best performance as a Tiger QB.

Mett is the starter, so I am not suggesting anything else.

Jennings will be great, but He will only be calle upon for limited or emergency situations in the early going, so despite anything good he does in the mean time, it now appears clear than he is not a threat to jump Mett and Rivers

Be all that as it may, the thing about Rivers and Cam is that this is the first time since the Jimbo Fisher days where a LSU QB has a legit change to be properly developed before getting damaged by either premature play (when not yet ready) of with improper QB/OC coaching.

Rivers may be that guy.

Rivers + Cam could be a special combination for the future.

Rivers won't start next season. May even be gone.

Sorry to say, but rivers biggest curse is his height. I doubt he ever sees the field and think the possibility of him transferring is better than 50%.

How did Rivers look today?

People have been all over Jennings jock so much I haven't read anything mentioned about Rivers.

I hope Jennings is as good as people are saying, but I think him seeing significant snaps this year would be HORRIBLE. I don't want another J. Lee situation with a true freshman QB being thrown to the wolves.

I'm really not looking forward to the "Jennings needs to play more" threads that will swarm this place the next few months. The back up QB is always the better option on nearly any team.

Rivers had some very very impressive throws. He also had some of the worst throws I have ever seen. He is a lot lighter on his feet than I would have guessed.

Bottom line is he was inconsistent and its hard to tell how good he really is because he played against scrubs.

I don't know how many times I can repeat this. Mett and Rivers were literally going against walk ons for most of the game. Look at the 46 sec highlight clip. The fade to Landry and the throw by Rivers was covered by three guys, 21 27 and 29. All three of those guys are walk ons. One of them is 5'9 and this explains all the deep pass catching. I'm not saying the throws were great or not because I wasn't there, but these guys won't be open like that against decent talent let alone good talent. Mills and Collins being out made all the difference today.
