Murphy runs away from a defense is when the defense is made up of walk-ons in a spring game
And ford has shown so MUCH o wait all i have seen is spring game and high school highlights hmmm. so r u telling me that ford is better because he also played against walk ons. and murphy got more TDs and more overall yds as well and had to do with scott and williams gettin carries. YEA u really made ur point

Put me in the Ford camp.

He runs with patience, right into the mass of bodies, and slips right out. He's a positive yards back with enough speed and power.

In which game was this?

Murphy has not proven to be a starting caliber running back. I if he does start it will be either because of senior bias or lack of talent from other backs.

How can u prove something when u havent had the chance. I could understand if absolutely stunk it up when got carries, but he didnt. i only saw like 2 runs that went for negative yrds. other than that he got at least 5 or 6 yrds.

This is not uncommon, unless there is an established returning letterman at the position. Murphy is a senior and deserves the 1st shot at the position during fall drills. Ridley and Ford will have the opportunity to take over the position during the weeks leaing up to September 4.

I've seen plenty of run plays over the years from Murphy that have gone nowhere. If a guy is not producing much, you don't keep on feeding him the ball because " we need to give him his chance". Coaches understand this. That's why Jacob Hester, Keiland Williams, and Charles Scott got more carries than murphy over the years. They proved more in practice. The whole coaching staff didn't just decide that they hate Richard Murphy and give the rest of the running backs a lot of carries because the coaches just like them a lot better. The other backs were more deserving because they showed more ability.

NO one said they hated murphy. and i dont believe it was because murphy wasnt good enough. I kno alot of ppl who is close to the team the last few yrs and said murphy impressed every week. i think it was more that Les mIles like big bruiser backs, also there was alot of talent at that position and someone was gonna be left out.SN: u cant be leader on team if ppl dont respect what they see in u. and it been said time and time again that murphy is a leader. and all this talk about murphy isnt an everydown back is a bunch bullshite.

If you are talented and bring something special to the table then coaches put you out on the field no matter how many people are at your position. look at joe mcknight at usc when there were 10 other running back on scholarship. Scott and and Williams are not so awesome that nobody else should be able to get any playing time while they are on the team. Murphy would have seen the field more if he was deserving.

He has paid his dues and has waited for years so its good that he is the starting running back. He tears it up every spring.

Murphy, Ridley, and Ford are all going to get their carries. It doesn't matter who's the starter.

I think the better question is who is going to be RB#4 and RB#5... they'll both get some carries too.

joe mcknight wasnt a true starter. he still had to share the backfield with like 4 backs. also different coaching staff

He and Ridley both have similar experience so the fact that he is a SR. is what gives him the nod.

Murph being listed at #1 is how it should be.

That said, I don't think it matters how you list the top 3. The guy that wins the war of effort each week will probably see the ball most on Saturday.

I can see this being a point. However what fits with the team is sometimes not whats popular with individuals. You have to take each game as a day, and vice versa. Each player is special, unique if you will. I like that. But when you try putting labels on young men you, as a person, become indifferent. This is not the direction I think anyone wants from this group of fine men.
