When LSU beats Arkansas, they will have to play an extra game on the road while the lower ranked team (BAMA) gets a Bye.

This is just the opposite of every other playoff system where the higher ranked team gets the Bye and is able to sit home and rest for a week as a reward for their better record.

Of course this won't matter if LSU wins out. The tragedy would be if a key player was injured during the extra game.

But it is what it is until it changes.

Considering the belief that the current system is motivated by $$$$, there is only a small hope that the obvious contradictions may sway a few who make future decisions regarding the BCS.

Here's the weird part.

If LSU beats Arky then loses to UGA, I'm still not seeing how the MNC game doesn't end up between LSU-BAMA.

Anyone????

there is a month between the SECCG and BCSCG - I don't think it will make a difference unless

Alabama is not guaranteed a spot in the bcsncg either. Not saying a one loss ok state gets put ahead of them at the end, but it's definitely not out of the question. We are almost guaranteed a spot in the bcsncg by playing that extra game.

I agree.

What happens if Arky beats LSU and then loses to Ga?

In 2003 and 2007 LSU doesn't make the national championship with out the SEC championship game. Let's not bash the game to bad.

This is pretty much all you can say. This season is an anomaly.

Then it STILL looks like LSU-BAMA.

Basically, I can't come up with a scenario where if Bama beats AU, the final two are not SEC teams.

Not bashing. I understand the value of playing in the game. The problem is obviously that there could be (at least this year) as much benefit in losing a game earlier and not playing in the game.

I'm trying to figure out a scenario where LSU doesn't go. I guess if Arky beats Ga?

don't forget the human factor....if OSU beats OU, or Stanford ends up in and winning the PAC 12 championship game.....that's also a factor...

The Big 12 does not have a championship game this year either which means Alabama's and OK State's records would be the same assuming they win out. I think the pollsters will vote Alabama #2 over OK state. But here's what you have going into next week.

1. LSU
2. Alabama
3. Arkansas

How you like dem apples? Top 3 all SEC this week.
