It doesn't matter who the Sugar Bowl wants, or how somebody defines the 2nd best SEC team, or who sells more tickets. If the SEC champion is in the 4 team playoff, the Sugar Bowl has to take the next highest ranked SEC team in the rankings. That's it. LSU has to win out, and Georgia has to fall below us after their (assumed) loss in the SEC Championship game

So our best chance to get into the Sugar Bowl is for Georgia to somehow pull out a win in the SECCG.

That sucks.

ETA: Because they would both go to the playoff again.

I would still be worried about it. Alabama blew us out and we didn't drop very much.

But I do think it would be tough for the committee to rank Georgia ahead of us. Unless we lose or barely beat aTm.

If uga wins then we can kiss sugar goodbye

We aren’t jumping Bama so we’d be third

Your facts don’t matter when compared with the opinions of Rantards.

I think they would both go to the playoff at that point.

Georgia beats Bama... Bama and UGA to playoff, LSU to sugar... slim chance Bama left out of playoff and goes to Sugar, then LSU to Peach or Fiesta

Bama blows out UGA... decent chance LSU ranked ahead of UGA, LSU to Sugar

Bama close win vs UGA... LSU won’t hop UGA, LSU to Peach or Fiesta

*all assuming an LSU win over A&M of course

I think if Georgia beats Alabama, it almost guarantees us the Sugar. But that ain't happening.

I guess we hope Bama man handles Georgia. I hate to have to root for that.

Maybe Georgia wins...

If Georgia loses the SEC Championship game and we win out. Both teams would have lost to Alabama and we beat Georgia head to head (pretty convincingly I might add). And both would have 2 losses. Why wouldn’t we be ranked higher.

I don’t think it’s a guarantee Bama still makes playoff if UGA wins SECCG

There will definitely be some debate. Only reason they got nod last year because alternative was 2-loss champ...alternative would be a 1loss champ this year (Michigan or OU or OhioSt)

Yeah, I think it would be debated for sure.

I just don't see how they keep Alabama out for one loss to a team like Georgia. Especially with what they've done so far this year. But who knows. I still want Georgia to beat Bama.

When Bama beats UGA, LSU and UGA will be tied with two losses. In that scenario the committee will almosf certainly place LSU above UGA since LSU has the head-to-head win. That’s essentially what the committee showed last week when they ranked LSU 7th. The committee likes this LSU team bc of the top 25 wins.

I get that, and while I agree with the thinking that LSU should be above UGA in that scenario, don’t forget ...

UGA 11-2
LSU 10-2

It’s not a W-L “tie”

While I think LSU should be ranked ahead of UGA, there is a VERY GOOD chance UGA stays ahead of LSU, regardless of their outcome with Bama.

I think LSU’s argument in this context is made better if Bama blows out UGA, “forcing” committe to look at UGA vs LSU in a vacuum

Bama will go to the playoffs if they lose to Georgia in the SECCG you can bet your life savings on that.

Head to head has mean something, especially a 20 point head to head.

What are you people talking about?

This is easy. LSU has to win out and I would even say a solid win against A&M 10 or more points. Bama has to beat Georgia convincingly. If the game is a close Bama win, Georgia will go to the sugar. So if you want LSU in the sugar pull for a Bama blowout win.

If Bama barely beats Georgia then they would probably still be ranked higher than LSU. If Georgia wins against Bama then both will make the playoff and LSU will go to the sugar. Alabama is the only team in the country that doesn't have to win or even play in their conference championship in order to make the playoff. So if you want to go to the sugar pull for a Bama blowout in the SEC championship.

Playoff rankings are eyeball test rankings. Look for LSU to drop lower than 7th this week. Prepare yourself
