Dang, Kentucky must have the highest percentage of caucasian fans in the SEC. Maybe Vandy and Mizzou gives them a run for the money too.

Odd thing is he was a TE in high school and not a punter

I’ll never forget that game. Watched it with my dad, who never watches football, and he was jumping up and down screaming at the end

I was at the game.

I was stationed at Ft Campbell during my Army days and went back to see some friends of mine, then made the three hour drive to Lexington from there. I had no idea what I was in store for.

Three things I’ll never forget about that game:

The 86 yard punt.

LSU recovered a fumble that probably shouldn’t have been a fumble. The Kentucky fans booed continuously for about 10 minutes (real time). Impressive.

Then, of course, the Hail Mary.

The Kentucky fans brought their A game that day. LSU won in last second fashion the season before in Lexington, and due to a weird scheduling quirk, LSU played in Lexington two years in a row (the same quirk allowed LSU to host Ole Miss in back to back seasons). So this game was a revenge game for Kentucky. Instead, LSU broke their hearts two years in a row.

I saw Jones play against West Monroe in 1998 and he was the punter for Catholic and punted alot that night.

The punter out of West Monroe is the best punter to come out of Louisiana since Donnie Jones.
