Yeah, the one that in YEAR FIVE was coming off a near lost to Oregon State at home, a loss at Auburn where we scored NINE points, barely beat TROY at home by FOUR (really?),lost to Georgia by FOUR TOUCHDOWNS, and inexplicably went into a prevent defense and melted down against Iowa in his last game before he handed the aformentioned keys to Les? That Nick Saban ?
Look worship Nick and Bama all you want. But don't come in here thinking you can REVISE HISTORY. NICK SABAN WAS A frickING INCONSISTENT, SLOPPY, DISTRACTED, DISINTERESTED MESS AT LSU IN YEAR FIVE. FACT.

He's a much better coach than when he left LSU. When things didn't work in the NFL, it much have killed his desire to move elsewhere.

Do you actually believe that LSU's program was in the same state in 2000 as in 2005? Do you actually think that a program coming off of its third coach in a decade, a program that just finished 2-9, a program that hadn't won an SEC title since the 1980's, a program that hadn't won an NC in nearly half a century, is in the same state as a program that just finished 9-2, that was two years removed from an NC, that had won two SEC titles in the last four years, that had benefitted from consecutive top five recruiting classes? YOu really believe those are equivalent starting positions for a head coach?
If you believe any of that, you are even dumber than your original post suggests, which is flabbergasting.

Saban is the best coach in college football, period.

And yet even in that supposedly sloppy, distracted state, he finished 6-2 in the SEC, which is the same record Miles has this year and the same record he had in the 2007 NC year.

maybe Saban is a better coach than Miles right now because Alabama is the better program. Maybe if Saban stayed here, he would continue to go 9-3 or so, and Miles at Bama would be 4 for 4 by now.
I've been trying to say this all day.
Too much logic for most ranters.

If Miles got as many second chances as Saban has, would he be as "good"? I think so.
Am I wrong for thinking this?

Saban has had a ton of luck on his side... On all 3 NCGs... 1st year Bama shoulda lost to Tennessee and colt McCoys injury. Last year they had no buisness being in that game.

Bama on probation and nothing to play for came in and whooped our asses in Saturday night on a freezing night in death valley. Can't remember if02 or 03

Nothing logical about that statement chief.

Total bullshite. On what basis would you conclude that Bama has some inherent advantage over LSU? DOes it have better facilities? No. A more storied stadium? No. More money? Not according to published statistics. A better recruiting base?Hell no. IN fact, Bama has to compete for in-state recruits with AU, while LSU is the only major program in Louisiana. And Lousiana has an extremely high rate of NFL player production per capita.
Moreover, during the early part of the decade - namely, when LSU had the coaching advantage before Saban went to Tuscaloosa - we dominated Bama.

mauck was supposed to be our QB in 2004 but he left early. we didn't have the depth yet to truly suffer that kind of loss
was this miles' fault?

i mean frick, les has no depth excuses and did you see what we trotted out at QB 2008-2011?
lm had recruited very well w/ rp, jl and jj. did you know that rp was a thug? he was ranked #1 rivals.
he had hatch get hurt and thru in rf jl to the wolves b/c jj was terrible.
slowflopro, your rewrite of history is missing little things called facts.
your fagluv for saban is ... not that there is anything wrong w/ it.

This is so fricking false.
No shite.
People are just remarkably stupid.
2000 LSU was extremely talented.
You don't win an SEC title in year two on the amazing wizardry of Tiny Nick alone.
Saban walked into a VERY talented but poorly coached team.
There is just no respect for objective truth anymore.
People have NARRATIVES and they stick to them.
Look at this arse clown going all nuclear and not even bothering to read the post and make the simple distinction between Saban at LSU and Saban at Alabama (two VERY different results).
You listen to the rabid Sabanistas and you'd think he won at LSU like he wins at Alabama.
He didn't.
8-4
10-3
8-5
13-1 (How the frick did you lose to Ron Zook at home?)
9-2
Facts are inconvenient things, they say....

Well, bama spoiled our best season ever last year, And did it again this year.
What more do you need to know?
They are the main thing to keep us from our goal

Answer the direct question. Do you actually believe that the 2000 program was in the same condition as the 2005 program? Do you believe that there was as much talent and confidence within the LSU program in 2000 as there was in 2005? If you are going to take that moronic position, at least have the guts to say it straight out.

They are indeed.
What does that have to do with Saban's career at LSU again ?
