Seriously it's been 8 years!

What is your point? Say it tersely.
I haven't seen such pomposity since the last Friedman column. Somebody is drinking pretty heavily from the self-regard fountain.
The irony of course is that you grow agitated and ask five six times "what my point is".
And of course the OP says:
quote:
b]The point is NOT[/b] that Saban sucked at LSU.
The point is not that Nick Saban is not the best coach in the business. That's up to you to decide.
But let's be factual people. Let's respect history.
He lost less than three games in a season exactly ONCE.
And the Tiger Rant melted down then too.
You should have been here after the Iowa game or when Xavier Whatsiname kneeled down on the Georgia one.
Saban's losses were by FAR greater margin.
And he lost to inferior opponents.
And he had more inexplicable last minute meltdowns in critical games.
Saban at Alabama is a different animal than Saban at LSU.
I am glad that we have higher expectations for Les than we did for Nick.
The point is SELF EXPLANATORY for the sentient.
I could repeat it-But then again, it's all there in simple language for those not too obtuse to handle it's FACTUAL simplicity.
I'm sorry that a simple recitation of THE FACTS agitates you so, but the problem resides in your delicate psychology
Get over yourself, your histrionics are completely over the top..

FWIW, Saban suffered in 2002 and 2004 from QB issues much as Miles has. Saban can be blamed for leaving Mauck in late in 2002 against Florida, but 2004 was just one of those sluggish years.
But the cupboard was very full in 2005 and my god the roster was fully developed in 2006. I think Miles did well in 2005 considering it's his first year and Katrina, but losing 2 games in 2006 was not satisfactory.

Do you suffer from a cognitive disability? Are you functionally retarded? I can only conclude that you are.
In the post above, you repeatedly explain what the point IS NOT, but you fail to accurately identify what the pont IS. Rather, you enumerate a ramshackle litany of random stupidity followed by non-sequitors.
IS your point that "Saban at Bama is a different animal than Saban at LSU." If so, this "point" is so vaguely worded and ambiguous as to be worthless. What does it mean "to be a different animal"?
IS your point that "we have higher expectations for Les than we did for Nick." As I've already pointed out, this is entirely justifiable and rational, given that LSU is now an established powerhouse, not a fledging hopeful. Again, context.
I'll take your failure to succinctly set forth your point in a single sentence as tacit concession that you, in fact, have no readily articulable point and that you started this thread to ramble incoherently about ancient events with no real purpose in mind.

Good statements. I was at both the 04 Georgia game and the 04 capital One
Ill never forget xavier bringing out the kickoff and stopping on the 3 yard line. But you can't blame saban for that. Perhaps you can blame saban for trusting Xavier.
Criticize saban for blowing the Capital One game for poor pass coverage
However, whatever you think of saban he brought us to the elite level. Now its our responsibility to remain there!

I think in order for it to be a "troll", you can't really believe what you are actually saying. What's the ruling on that?

Signing 13 while your foes sign 25+ isn't what I'd like to see when the cupboard is opened.

Wow.
That's EASILY the most tortured intentional obtuseness I've experienced in my near- decade on this board.
You sure are agitated.
Literally dozens of people were able to debate the OBVIOUS points contained in about a dozen CLEAR sentences.
I'm sorry you are stuggling so hard to intentionally not understand simple English.
You have my sympathy.
And my heartiest Congratulations.
You are the board's foremost Unicorn Sabanista.
Unicorn Saban of course would have waxed 2006 Auburn in a manner Actual Saban couldn't in 2004.
Actual Saban was 48-16 at LSU.
Unicorn Saban is 94-0 at LSU.
You can't beat Unicorn Saban.
He has eight straight crystal balls.
Congrats on your rich fantasy life.

Are you intentionally ignoring all of the players who were already on the damn team when Miles arrived? Like, you know, JR and Bowe and Dorsey and tens of others?

I'm still waiting for you to set forth your point in a clear, concise manner. If it's so obvious, go ahead and state it. Go ahead. Peck out the letters. Sound it out.
The fact of the matter is that you have no real point. You cite raw records with no historical context about the state of the program, you vomit forth a jumble of arbitrary facts and then fail to link them to a cognizable conclusion, you ramble about ancient games to no effect, and you perpetually contradict yourself.
Since you appear incapable of even articulating your point, I'll articulate mine instead: none of your senile pablum about events in 2001-2004 changes the incontrovertible conclusion that Saban is a better coach than Miles and was a better coach than Miles when he was at LSU. I want that change. I hope that it does. But thus far, it hasn't happened.

The players Miles inherited from Saban has been discussed ad nauseam.

Ah yes, rather than responding to substance, you revert to witless bon mots and cliched pop culture allusions.
Still waiting for your point.

You are alone in your confusion.
Just one little man, sitting sadly in your Spiderman undies, outraged that your binky requirements are unmet.
But I'll tell you what.
Go wait by your mailbox.
It's forthcoming.
I promise.
