Recruiting baseball players from states far away
Posted by 225Tyga on 2/21/18 at 7:12 pm132
My baseball rant for the night...
So LSU goes out and recruits pitchers from outside of Louisiana sometimes from states far away like New Jersey, California, Pennsylvania etc.. nothing wrong with that. But then some of these guys get here and top out at 90-92 mph.
I understand that there is more to pitching than just throwing hard but a school/program like LSU should be littered with arm talent. Hard throwers who are also accurate.
Yes most talented hard throwing high school players get drafted and opt out of college for the pros.
But out of all the high school players in the country, I just dont understand how or why LSU doesnt have a Kevin Gausman (Colorado) or Anthony Ranaudo (New Jersey) on the staff every year.
Hess is a hard thrower from VA but as we saw...hes not a starter.
And yes I am just frustrated with LSU (sports in general) but I also believe that the talent within our program should always be head and shoulders above most.

Once again. As ive said 400 times before.
Watson, Storz and Labas would be favorites for the starting slots this year barring injury.
Not a whole lot you can do when 3 potential aces get hurt

Don’t be frustrated with LSU sports. Just follow Basketball closely and enjoy the other two for entertainment.

Well did you watch Miss St last year? They lost 9 pitchers and made it to the Supers.

Well did you realize that we are exactly 29 1/3 innings into the season and a super regional birth is so far away that calling it impossible gaurantees you to be an idiot even if you happen to be right?

Do you not feel like LSU should have a starter that can sit around 93-94?
Sure but since I’m not as short sighted and beyond impatient like you seem to be I can accept that at a given time, we might not.
We were in the championship series LAST YEAR. We were a top 8 seed what 6 years in a row? A “down year” were we might not host a Super or *gasp* even a regional is bound to happen now and then.

You and youre mediocracy acceptance might go over better if you start cheering for the Aggies.
This is LSU baw, championship and an undefeated season or fire everyone.

Holy crap
They were also 40-27 and did not host a regional so they lost some series and probably even got swept 1 weekend.

And we lost all 3 of our weekend starters last year combined with losing our two most talented pitching recruits from this cycle.
Growing pains will happen. Chill the frick out and let it play out. When we're still struggling come April then bitch then. Until then enjoy the ride and see what happens
