I know this is not exactly a novel idea considering all the busted records, but after witnessing Clyde TOP OFF THE NFLs RUSHING week 1... and Joe throw for 3TDs behind the league’s worst OL and virtually no ground game...

Really gives some perspective. I’m optimistic about this season, but that feeling of “the offense is going to do whatever it wants to” in nearly every game was probably a once-in-a-generation phenomenon.

You never know what to expect, especially in a year like 2020 — I want to see the Tigers go undefeated. I’m JS we could have a top 5 offense all year, and it might still feel like they fell off a cliff

If you expect 100% the same thing you’ll be disappointed.

But even 85% would be probably the second best offense in LSU history.

If Myles is half as productive as Joe that’s ~3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. 10 game schedule obvi but you get my point.

Precisely. You’ve summed up my thoughts.

It’s just jarring to see the starting backfield having such immediate impact at the next level. I expected them to do well, but that transition can be difficult to predict.

Offense may not even be 60% as good but the defense should be much better.

I think we have too much talent to not be productive. I think the numbers will be pretty. What may feel different is the dynamic of being able to count on that offense imposing its will on anyone.

Even in games where things weren’t going our way, there was no doubt or conditional expectation based off the level of competition.

They were as consistent as a championship defense. I have never seen anything like it. Now it looks like it’s going to carry-over at the next level.

All this Miami/Nebraska NFL roster talk might not be an argument for much longer. It’s just wild.

Don’t think you have to worry about that for as long as Orgeron is here. I was just talking about the fact that we all got a little used to what will probably be looked at as the greatest collegiate offense of all time.

Myles doesnt get a couple tune up games either.

No 1AA southwest missouri school for protesting, so he wont have a huge opportunity to pad his stats.

That being said, I think the offense will be something to watch again.

O-Line is strong - stable of breakout backs - best receivers including freak newcomer, Gilbert. It will come down to Myles ability to run the offense and the OC continuing to run the spread offense as effciently as last year.

LSU could repeat with all the talent they have.

Things that worry you:

1) OL coming together before week 4.

2) piggybacking on the first point, Brennan’s ability to ad lib when things break down.

3) losing a versatile lead WR is worrisome. A guy that can run every route & be a threat at every level on the field

4) who’s the lead voice among the offensive coaches, & how will they build on what Brady built? You hear Ensminger. There is Linehan, the highest paid non-coordinator in CFB. Callaway’s name keeps coming up as the closet thing to Brady, in terms of style.

5) the shortened offseason, coupled with introducing a slew of new players & coaches is less than ideal. There will be more punting guys. Probably more sacks & turnovers too. But I do think LSU can have a top 3 SEC offense.

I still believe this. I think this post is not coming off exactly how I intended.

Having a solid OL going into a season is a good feeling. I’m excited to see a healthy Marshall + Gilbert.

It would be awesome to have Chase on the roster, but I think Marshall + co. will not miss a beat.

I think Brennan’s ability to imitate Joe’s cold-blooded poise & pocket presence will be where the inevitable drop-off comes in. That’s not a knock on Myles those are things Joe did better than anyone I’ve ever seen lol.

On the flip side, the dude is smart, has a cannon, and shadowed Joe.

We’ll see

This was before Chase, et al dropped out. There’s no way LSU will be top 3 in SEC. There’s going to be some disappointed fans this year, the expectations are far too high.

What, you don't miss an average offensive series consisting of: Toss Dive right for 3 yards, run up the middle for 2 yards, play action out of the I with two receivers thrown for an incompletion, followed by a punt?

Miles was an awesome personality, but a JV football coach could've stopped his offensive gameplan

It's not going to be exactly the same because the personnel is different and they are inexperienced for the most part, but we still are utilizing a modern offense with playmakers everywhere. I can not understand why people don't get this. We didn't even need Brady. Any competent modern day offensive coordinator would have done well. Phil Longo, Mike Yurcich, Graham Harrell, and Chad Morris would have been lights out too.

LSU has always been a great OC away from excellence. This state bleeds athletes and now we have QBs on the rise too.

Sure there is

LSU has better players than most of those returning players

And there was a ton of coaching turnover in the league at the head & coordinator levels. Lane Kiffin for example was in California for most of the quarantine lol

The first three games are Miss St, Mizzu, and Vandy. Those are some pretty damn good games for tuning up.
