McMahon was hired 10 months ago, hasn’t been at LSU very long. He had a returning roster on day 1 of exactly 0 players. He had (has?) potential “draconian sanctions” forthcoming. The road has always been tough.

He convinced 3 kids to return, and all things considered, assembled a decent transfer and freshman class. Included are 3 kids who played for him at Murray St., which says a lot about the man’s ability to relate to kids and build a positive culture. However, LSU was always gonna be behind the 8 ball this season.

Then along comes the football season, where Brian Kelly took a program similarly decimated by roster losses and assembled an instant SEC West championship roster.

As fans I think we need to give McMahon a chance to establish a program that is 100% his, not a roster thrown together over the course of 2 months just to field a team.

I know the recruiting for next season isn’t strong at this point, but I also think teams are negative recruiting using the uncertainty of possible post-season bans which still hang over the program. John Brady fielded some real shite teams for 3 seasons before sanctions passed. Eventually he got us to a Final Four, albeit with the perfect storm of a Baton Rouge area All Star roster. Point being, coming in as Kelly did with the existence of recent success (2019 NC) and a foundation a highly recruited players is not the scenario under which McMahon came in.

Some are suggesting LSU should cut ties if the season continues to flame out. Tell me what type of coach you’re expecting to come to LSU who knows only an immediate NCAA/NIT team is acceptable.

Anyhow, I want immediate gratification as much as anyone, but the realist in me knows comparing Kelly (football) to McMahon (basketball) is apples to oranges. We know a couple of things we have with McMahon: class and respect of his players. That’s a good foundation on which to build. Let’s give Coach a chance to breathe.

football doesn’t have shite to do with basketball in any way. The comparison is stupid.

Screw that. MM has shown no sign of being able to recruit for improvement.

But the elephant in the room is that Scott should’ve realized that he wouldn’t be able to attract a proven coach and should have stuck with WW.

Starting out 12-1 didn’t help with the expectations either

You agree then. Comparing football to basketball is apples to oranges. On a high level fans see Kelly having instance success and think McMahon should have the same.

Yes, I agree. If fans are spoiled it’s just not from football. If they are using football as a justification for criticism, then they are not being rational.

12 early wins spoiled us. We weren’t supposed to have a team. Yet alone, win any games.

I would love to move on but we are stuck with him for 3 years. I’m a season ticket holder for over a decade and never miss a game until today. Decided I would rather do other things than watch us lose again and by double digits for what the tenth straight game

It was actually an enjoyable game to watch. We were down by 1 point with a chance to go ahead with a 3 from Hayes but he missed.

We kept it largely within 5 points for the second half. Was a very enjoyable game.

It didn’t spoil me. That early schedule was designed to get the team’s feet under it. It was no reflection of the team’s capability come SEC schedule. This team was always slated to be bad. It’s just disappointing to see the fans abandon the program.

I loved Wade as much as anyone. But it is his stupidity and carelessness that have us at this point. I lived through the 80s and know how much fun a winning LSU basketball program can be. Wade made me believe we were back there. So his demise was disappointing.

McMahon has faith in LSU and its ability to win again. I say we give him that chance before we pass judgment. If in year three we’re getting blown out and win 3 SEC games it’s on him.

There were a grand total of ZERO players on the roster when he took the job. He essentially had the death penalty. Ther may be more sanctions that come to the program. Gibe the man a chance. This seas9n is his not one to judge. He will need to be looked at next year and judged then. He will at least get to start year 3. I am sure we will endure all of you fair weather fans shite
