Never has been, never will be. It might be clever, and might be entertaining, depending on the listener; it might even have some interesting "beats" in the background. But it will never be music to me.

In what way is it not music? The definition of music is "vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion." you might say it doesn't produce beauty, but in that case, anyone could call any song they don't like not music. I don't even enjoy the song, but to say it's not music is a disservice to the time and effort put in by the artist and the label to produce it.

I wonder how much of our perception of that comes from most of them not being able to read or write very well so the ones that got memorialized are from those who actually had a formal education and not that that was just the common intelligence of your average soldier.
