Question for the Rant about how we got Canada.

So The Rant is a bunch of "We are smarter and can do better than the guy getting paid to do it" Right?
So the Rant posts all kinds of BS for years and it never comes to Fruition. It's all BS.
But all of a sudden Canada was wanted by the Rant by more than 80% of the board. And it happend
Does the Rant think the Binder was reading the Rant?
Does the Rant think it was a PR move by the Binder to get more support for Coach O?

Nobody at LSU is making football decisions based on the opinions of the damn rant.

Please choose one question at a time it’s too late at night for all of those....
The binder loves the rant

I 100% think the binder cares a lot about what fans think.

Ponamsky post here and reads this board religiously. There is no doubt in my mind that Ponamsky got Canada’s name from this board and brought it to O. It’s sad really

Orgeron wanted Kiffin, he had ties to him. Landing Kiffin would bring in a bigname coordinator, and take someone away from Alabama (I think there was some emphasis on the symbolism of that happening).
I think the promise of that happening is what got O hired.
When it didn't happen, people had to move quick, before the situation blew up in everyone's face.
Canada was recognized as having success in several places (Wisconsin, NC State, and Pitt), and a history of moving around. That made him a desirable candidate: he had the resume; and since he hadn't put down roots, there was a very good chance he would come for the right money. In other words, a hired gun.
There was probably other, more highly thought of guys, but with no sure chance of landing them. We had to move quick, and Canada was "good enough".
As it turns out, some of that might bite us, or it might work out fine.
Canada isn't averse to moving on again, as he has shown no tendency to make a home anywhere. He also has a history of getting run off despite having successful offenses, so odds are he's a bit of a headcase to deal with.
However, Orgeron's working under a mandate to be a hands-off coach (fallout from the infamous Miles hands-on perception, as well as not having much top level experience running either side of the ball). O is supposed to manage the overall program, and let the coordinators have autonomy. That environment might allow Canada the room he needs to stay put, and develop his offense here.
LSU historically has a shite-ton of athletes with marginal QBs to get them the ball. We've seen Canada create schemes to still take advantage of those athletes; Chark remains the primary WR. Gage would have been a non-factor based on his receiving numbers, but he turned into our 3rd leading rusher by making the jet sweep an integral part of the offense, instead of just a gimmick play. Williams became more than just Guice's backup, he started running our wildcat package, and ran it pretty often towards the end of the year. And with Guice at RB and Gage in motion, that opened up a lot of lanes for him.
Etling didn't hit the passes against Alabama, but they were there. He did hit them against A&M; a lesser defense, but still an example of what Canada's scheme could be.
Short answer about Canada was this: O wasn't known as an offensive guy, so he was free to get the best guy he could get, in a timely manner. Canada was the most eligible guy out there, and O got him.

LSU’s offense was average at best this year, actually less productive than last year’s. Don’t know why and don’t really care, but facts are facts.
Whoever is OC is in 2018, offense needs to improve.

Offense was fine. We had chances to win every game we played except for the Mississippi State game. Not really sure what happened there.

I’m about 78% positive Ponamsky looked at this place once Lane fell through. O asked his “Directer of Operations” who are the top guys in the country, and Bam...Canada.
I’m only saying Canada was the only one, but he was at the tip of the Coachkng Board’s lips at this time last year
(I should put out the disclaimer that I hope Canada does come back just off the strength of some continuity)

It really shows how sad and ignorant some people here are that they honestly believe that Oregeron somehow made his hiring decisions based on the rant.

This might be the most well thought out and best presented post I've ever seen on the Rant. Well done sir.
