Unfortunately, I have to preface this so that I am not falsely accused by some pumptard of being a negatard. I legitimately have a question regarding offense implementation since I've never played a down of organized football.

After Coach Alleva called the coordinator meeting and O admitted to finagling with the offense, we've seen some explosive plays and I would argue, overall improvement. Hypothetically, if O hadnt of messed with the offense, would we be further/more sophisticated/better understanding than where we are at now?

Or is it more of "the guys have the basics down and thats all we are running at this point regardless of who's running it" type situation?. TIA.

Pretty sure O wanted to just get rid of pre snap motions to get rid of penalties. As you can tell these pre snap motion jet sweep plays are working. Its all about confusing defenders. The window dressing forces them to rethink what play is about to happen and before they can analyze the new formation..the ball is snapped.

It's not that complicated.... when the O line blocks, the offense clicks. if not, it doesn't

I doubt it. For whatever reason, we cannot run the ball well with the RBs. Our passing game is mostly predicated on the PA pass, so despite a few jet sweeps that were broken for big gains, we're still struggling in the basics.

Wow, I do not think the rant can handle this conclusion. It's way too simple and there has to be some convoluted reason along with years of back door shenanigans tied to overly complicated play calling and personality conflicts, jealousy, incompetence and authoritative micro management.

basically i saw this coming and am not shocked at all
i basically started my entire hs years and think that coach o is easy to understand
after hs i played some flagball for a few colleges so i know a few things Lol

Aleva put all his chickens in one bag and hired coach o without doing a good search

If anything they should have come out "guns blazing" vs Troy and tried to work out the kinks. I get simplifying for young OL, but you didn't hire Canada to run Ensminger's Miles-related offense. Another solid leadership check mark for O

This offense right now is dependent on the big play. With the youth on the o line they can't consistently block to save their lives and Etling has happy feet galore in the backfield. Even though people are saying the offense has improved and whatnot it really didn't play to well against Auburn. Their 2 td drives were off big plays and in the second half they really didn't do to much. The offense is so handicapped with this o line.

and if the gumps think that jalen will be able to rely on him to pass his way to a win they are dead wrong.

Im not sure anyone can answer your question. Not even O canada etling or the pathetic AD.

I will say Canada's offense makes a defense defend the entire field. One poster said, if the OL blocks, we move the ball. Which is the answer for sure.
When the defense is stressed and Etling gets time and more important not worried about getting his head taken off, he sees the field pretty well and a big play or two in the passing game is likely against most opponents each game. If LSu can ever get the running game going they may put 50 on someone.
Canada is good at setting up the defense and calling the right play at the right time, it seems.

Maybe. Maybe more of the offense would have been on film so teams like Florida and Auburn would have more information on how to stop it.

O should not have meddled with the offense. You hired Canada and paid him a lot of money to run that side of the ball, so let him run that side of the ball.

I have no objection to O being a "game manager" on Saturday, but he should not be involved in running things from Sunday morning to Saturday morning.

Next time you see a complaint about "rhythm" or the offensive line, remember this.

I'm no expert either but guessing that this is an offense that can get more sophisticated as time goes on. The challenge is knowing how much the players can absorb/execute without mental mistakes. Maybe Coach O thought we weren't ready for some of Canada's playbook yet.

I'm curious if our offense will continue to evolve and get better as the season goes on (and in future seasons if Canada sticks around).

To answer your question...absolutely. The offense would be further ahead and would've been more productive from the beginning. The blown blocking assignments are a result of not enough practice reps, and a lack of studying the playbook. The false starts are a result of a lack of focus. I've known from game one that Canada was being allowed to run his true offense and I told that to all of my football friends. I study the X's and O's way more than most and to me it was obvious. You'll see the offense improve as the year progresses.
