Good point. There's probably some moron on the Board of Supervisors that is close friends with Houston Nutt, or Tommy Tuberville, or Lynn Amedee, or Terry Robiskie, and is just waiting to hire him as LSU head coach. Most reasonable ppl are OK w/ Miles, understand his record, but believe he's wasting opportunities to win NCs b/c of his stubbornness w/ regard to the offense. Personally, I'd be thrilled if he retired at the end of the year, and LSU hired Dan Mullen. But you're right, we could hire a bozo, given the political nature of LSU.

Dan Mullen is an Offensive Coordinator who was responsible for Florida's offensive success, and look what he is doing at Miss State in a few years. The fans there adore him.

Right .... so you agree he'd be a homerun hire for LSU? (if Miles retires)

Why does all the credit for the D goes to Chavis but all the blame for the O goes to Miles? We need coaching help with our offense

I really feel you should thank John Chavis for last year. The amount of points that D generated last year covered up for a lack luster offense.
Miles doesn't try to hide his basic game plan. He just relies on his players to be better athletes than the guys on the other side. Runs the same plays and lets the athlete win it....but when the team comes up against equal or better athletes, Les doesn't adapt and goes down with the ship. 1/9 shows this. It's evident more so this year because the D is thin and cannot cover for him like last year. 3 DBs left for the NFL, 1 kicked off team.

Miles is the head coach. He hires the offensive coaches.

I still support Miles and want him here. He is a great recruiter and ok enough head coach. He needs to drop his stubborness and bring in an OC and let the guy operate an offense without being minimized contstantly.
This is the correct answer

No adjustments were made and still are not being made when the rest of the league has caught up with LSU's game plan week to week. If this trend continues, we are on the outside looking in again and have no one to blame but the man at the top.
I agree with this 100%. I just have to believe that goofy Miles has a want to make adjustments at this point. What I don't understand is how we are able to drive the field on our opening possession in each game this season, and then we just go flat. No adjustments made at halftime. Nothing fricking changes.

Do you propose a search for a new coach immediately?
Absolutely not....If LSU is capable of making game day adjustments the past 2 years, then we are talking about the greatest team in cfb history right now. I'll say this with confidence....The brilliant mind of Gary Danielson on this staff and LSU is in the history book as greatest ever. Chew on that for a while..

Les has been consistent with this since 2005. Nothing will change. Eventually TAF and Joe have to ask if Les Miles is a long term fit. My answer is no. However, if politics gets back into the hiring process I would just rather keep les. The BOS needs to stay the frick out.

Yes I do believe Mullen would be a great Hire for LSU and keep Chavis at Defense.
Would Chavis want to be our Head Coach? Somehow
I think he prefers the behind the scene coaching spot. The man is clearly one of the best in the country at defense.

How stupid.
Is South Carolina just never allowed to be an elite football school in your book? So we should always just roll over them. They are ranked #3 in the country for a reason you tard.
Also, you do realize we are the favorites in this game right? We opened at -4 and last I saw we were still -2.5.
I was responding to the previous poster that considers us winning a home game in which we are favored "an upset". Sorry that you can't grasp the concept of context.

Thanks for being such a great poster and keeping the level of discourse at such a high level.

I agree. Boring, predictable, and ugly football. Its just not fun anymore.
This SO has 80's Big 10 football written all over it. It seems to me that Miles is trying so freaking hard to be a Bo Schembechler clone in his own eyes and the eyes of his peers.

good god that would be awesome. Mullen would jump ship in a new york second and head down 55 for BR if we would offer.

Gary Danielson is a genius at Football your right, love listening to him. Perhaps Joe Aleva
shoudl consult Danielson as to how to fix our problems, and make recommendations. Sure his advice would be invaluable. And, I think he likes
LSU and is frustrated with what he watches happenig with LSU offense.

no way we can fire miles. no matter who we hire there is no guarantee chavis will stay. no guarantee wilson will stay and if wilson goes between wilson, saban, muschamp, and fisher we will DEFINITELY lose over half the new orleans recruits. that spells disaster. our best scenario is for miles to adjust the offense or his recruiting skills get us in a position to out talent everyone except bama. then we can split with them every 2 years.

Please stop saying that McClendon was the "greatest coach in LSU history". I lived through his entire tenure at LSU, and he was above average at best. The only reason he leads in total wins is because it took so long for anyone to have the cajones to show him the door. From a pure standpoint of coaching ability, the top three coaches in LSU history were:
1. Nick Saban
2. Paul Dietzel
3. Bill Arnsparger
Miles, in fact, is beginning to look more and more like McClendon than he is any of those three.

If we don't fix the problems at coaching, the recruits will quit coming because of poor development of offensive recruits. Remember the #1 QB recruit heading north after the 1/9/12 fiasco. Truly will continue to be a trend if the problems are not corrected. Most of those N.O. kids can be recruited to LSU with the right recruiting coach.
