no one has answered your question about what available coach they would take
Very short list: Mullen, Patterson, Peterson.
Qualifications:
1. will you run a clean program?
2. Can you recruit, are you enthusiastic about recruiting?
3. Are you an acknowledged, cutting edge expert/guru/genius on either side of the ball? That is, are you an offensive "genius"? A Defensive genius? Are you an x's and o's technician? think: Sean Payton; Nick Saban.
4. Will your ego permit you to hire an equally talented coach to run the other side of the ball, that is, if you are an offensive genius, will you hire a defensive genius to run your defense?
5. Are you happily married; will you pull a Petrino?
6. Can you run a program; do you know how to hire (and if necessary, timely fire) assistants and coordinators?

As with any profession in any field at any level, if you remain stagnant in your approach, you will get passed up. By not being dynamic, changing with the game and developing as a professional, Miles is becoming stale.
I don't want Alleva to start looking now, because I think he needs to have a brutally honest performance evaluation with Miles...light a fire under him. The last thing LSU needs is egg on its face for firing a Coach one year from an undefeated regular season and national title game appearance, and a very strong recruiting class incoming.

When LSU beating South Carolina at home is considered an upset, things are clearly not going well.

You OP is ridiculous.
The man has worked off other people's success since he has gotten here. That's is the problem.
Jimbo had the offense understanding and well oiled, he got a little stale but the offense was still very complex and fundamentally sound.
Crowton came and ran a semi complicated offense that wa able to mesh because of Jimbo. But soon turned to failure because of lack of development an philosophy. Look at his decline a a coach now.
Miles promotes with in after and in-between OCs like a dumbass instead of paying one, whose job is to run an offense. The Krag debacle could be brought up but almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades. Since he has been here the offense has slowly been turned into his offense and it's not worth a dime.
The biggest problem I have with Miles is that I see the awesome talent and raw potential of our offense every Saturday but it's never utilized or developed into what it should be. You look at other teams in the SEC and they are just passing us by in the offensive category with lesser talent.
I could start on the D but some how I feel the OP will have "arguments" for days on some of these points.

" We keep Miles as long as we can. The O coordinator needs ot be fired though."
I mentioned this in a past post "Some fans don't get it" and took a lot of heat. Surely Miles understands a change is needed. Hire a good OC and let the man coach although I'm doubtful at this point because other coaches understand how Les runs the offense. Why doesn't he leave his hands off? Must be a control freak! Seems to work for ok for our defense! It just sad that coach K got sick. Wish he well and

This anger at Miles reminds me of Nebraska fans under Frank Solich. Husker fans thought they could do better, so they ran off a 10-win-a-year coach and replaced him with Bill Callahan. And you could say Nebraska just hasn't been the same since.
Solich at Nebraska:
1998 9-4
1999 12-1
2000 10-2
2001 11-2
2002 7-7
2003 9-3 (team finished 10-3 with bowl win after Solich was fired)
Bill Callahan
2004 5-6
2005 8-4
2006 9-5
2007 5-7
This doesn't mean I'm happy about our offensive performances in 2012, but holy crap you're really rolling the dice if you run off one of the most successful coaches you've ever had.

Doesn't matter what I want. I'm only a fan who watches on tv. I do have free speech though, so I think that means we can complain and don't have to bow down. That's what really gets my goat is that if the coach has a winning record then we have to worship him and he is above criticism.
He is only a human being. Makes lots of mistakes like you and me. In my job I dealt with the public and had to endure lots of angry criticism in person and over the phone. Almost every complaint was due to a decision made by someone other than myself. I had no control. Miles is in complete control of our football program.
No player gets recruited, no play gets designed and called if he does not approve. If one of his staff fails him he can fire them. If a player let's him down he can suspend them.
For this he is paid millions of dollars. He only has to deal with the public through interviews and press conferences and seems to resent most of those as he speaks nonsense and gibberish that run away from actually answering the questions.
So do I want to look for his successor? No, I just want him to do a better job. It hasn't gotten to that point yet but it is far more than one game as some would have us believe. The NCG of last year will always be the low point of LSU football I believe. It crushed us and took away all the luster from a great season (perhaps the best ever).
Did Les learn from his mistakes? No we only see more of the same. Some of it is individual players and execution. That we can forgive. A lot of it is lack of preparedness and insanely stupid play calling. This we cannot forgive!

Except he is NEVER going to do this.
Idk about that. I think he attempted to do this when he hired Krags but for reasons beyond anyone's control and that nobody could have foreseen he had to replace him with Stud. I think it was a quick fix that (at the time) was meant to be temporary. But after the unprecedented success last year, Miles opted to stay with what seemed to be working and he just assumed that 1/9 was an anomaly.
I believe that if the offense doesn't drastically improve by the end of the season we will have a new OC in 2013. I hope I'm right.

Is it really an upset when your players are as good or better than USC? LSU is capable of winning games in spite of the pitiful offensive coaching we have.
For the life of me I cannot understand how people cannot see this.

Do you propose a search for a new coach immediately?
So if you bash him it means you want to replace him?
His offense sucks. If that is bashing then oh well. There isn't a person in the country that knows football that would say otherwise. The offense lacks imagination and never adjusts to what the defense is doing. He gets paid $4 million a year and should be able to take the truth. The gameplans are rarely if ever adjusted. Now the pitiful offense is taking its toll on our defense. no way UF runs all over us in the 2nd half if we could have sustained drives.

His record is fantastic. It's him I cannot stand anymore. He's predictable and plays not to lose, leaving the game excruciating to watch.
For example, he opts for field goals when in striking distance of touchdowns and early in a game. This is a loser's mentality.
Also, playing not to lose (i.e. by extremely conservative offensive play calling which resulting in too many 3 and outs) was the cause of LSU's defense becoming exhausted by the beginning of the 3rd Quarter vs. the Gators. And this is why Florida needed only a little offensive effort to win.
Miles sucks the life out of college football. He's had plenty of time to field an offense that doesn't sputter yet we haven't had one in at least five years. Miles has proven to me that it is not always just about winning.
Yes, begin the search now.

How stupid.
Is South Carolina just never allowed to be an elite football school in your book? So we should always just roll over them. They are ranked #3 in the country for a reason you tard.
Also, you do realize we are the favorites in this game right? We opened at -4 and last I saw we were still -2.5.

This. Last years results gave us this year. I think a change is coming at the end of the season unless it drastically improves.

Rock Solid and unarguable. 6 consecutive 3 and outs net 12 yards after opening drive. Defense left guts on field and Gators ground game got stronger as game wore on. Sad....Very Sad to watch.

I think we would all like to see in-game adjustments. This isn't too much to ask for.
