Don’t be sarcastic or smarty - jus answer the question. I saw this happen Sat night and official had to see it but it was never called. Also happens with Bama.

Yes a defensive player can do that.

Generally, you can grab in an attempt to shed yourself of a block...but you cannot grab and pull in an attempt to open lane for another player. The latter will be called defensive holdling.

Blockers can typically grab the jersey between the shoulders with both hands. Not sure if it’s legal but it’s difficult for the refs to spot.

It certainly can be called, but almost never is. You might see it called a handful of times in an entire SEC season..at most. Defensive holding is almost always against linebackers and defensive backs. They pay no attention to it in the trenches.

As long as you are trying to make a move to get passed the offensive player you can grab. If you are intentionally trying to pull a player to open up a blitzing LB or DB then that is defensive holding.

For the most part and long as the offensive player’s arms are at 90 degrees and inside the shoulders you can do what you want because that shows control. One technique is to get your hand inside and grab the shoulder pads around the chest and twist. If your arms are at 90 degrees it will rarely be called.

In the case of 52 holding Chaisson all night yes. He’s got it backwards.
