Your idea of appropriate and LSU's apparently differ.

The RANT is not the place for trying to change LSU policy.

Not following your logic. If anything that should make it worse since a lot in here claim their older generation didn't curse in the stadium ever

Except for the student section, there was the occasional curse here and there, but the F bomb was pretty much taboo. Now, what you are witnessing is the student's section overflowing to the rest of the stadium because people are generally speaking INFANTS today and scoff at the thought of personal accountability and respecting other people's right to not hear garbage come out of other people's mouths. It's just a mirror reflection of society on a whole these days. Sorry, but the older I get the less tolerance I have for it anymore, and yes, I am well known for giving a lecture when a lecture is warranted. Like the drunk fools don't care, neither do I anymore. I have no tolerance for idiots, and neither should the rest of society.

But the topic of THIS thread is Profanity IN Tiger Stadium.

I undertand the thread topic. My point is, you hear it and see it before you get IN. Where do you draw the line? it's ok outside, just not inside?

i think lsu has tried to control the chants by the student section. you don't here a-hole, a-hole anymore. neck didn't get played the other night.

Who said I'm trying to change LSU's policy simply by posting on the Rant? I'm simply trying to persuade others and contesting positions with which I disagree. I'm sure the LSU administrators would rather not be required to deal with arresting abusive patrons. However, they obviously agree with me that the chants were inappropriate. I also believe they are not very far from stepping up enforcement.

Maybe you ought to take a few minutes and read the entire thread.

Yes, profanity is everywhere and you can't control it everywhere, but it's easier to do in an organized event like a football game than it is to police a multitude of individual tailgate parties.

Again, read the entire thread.

Your idea of an idiot it not the standard though. You are trying to push YOUR view on someone else. Not everyone agrees with YOU... obviously.

Until LSU takes real action that isn't just not playing certain songs, it won't stop. I don't like it, you don't like it... but one of us can see the situation and realize how useless it is to get on a soap box on an anonymous message board.

Yeah, not anymore I suppose, but again. Don't care.

i've been an active party in the thread. i know what it is about. You said your main problem was the chants. i told you they have stopped playing a-hole, a-hole, and now neck. now your shifting your stance. there is nothing in the o.p.'s comments about lsu and controlling the cursing in organized event like a football setting.

I've been a season ticket holder for 35+ years. Why do so many people think they have the right to yell obscenities all game long? My wife had her fill of it yesterday and won't be returning. I wouldn't even consider taking a child to a game these days. It is totally inconsiderate and shows a total lack of class. And don't tell me that's the way it is everywhere because it's not.

he's offended by cursing at the game. his wife wont go anymore and he doesn't think a child should either. i guess he didn't have a problem with it outside? where do you draw the line?

lsu is lsu. if they can control it INSIDE, then they can control it OUTSIDE. IT'S THEIR PROPERTY. however, most people wouldn't like their tailgaiting taken away. that's how simple it is. you don't have to hire police, you ban tailgaiting, beer, alcohol, music, generators, t.v.'s, ect from campus. be careful what you ask for, you may get it.

There are better ways to deal or handle it. if it's out of control, just talk to the person. most people understand and some, like myself, aren't happy with themselves when they do it. if it's an occasional situation, just deal with it. you and your family will have much bigger challenges in life. i promise.

Can't believe this thread went 15 pages.

The morality police (profanity included) irritate me.

Not nearly as much as pure stupidity and a calloused indifference to those around you irritates me.

Mike I'm with you all the way. People just don't give a shite about anybody but themselves these days, and not just at a ball game. It's only going to get worse.

Fans having their binds blown over other fans cussing in any sports venue. Death Valley is known to be insane, one of the toughest places to play in, you can't have that title and expect the fans to be sweethearts

A well placed curse word can be quite effective in getting the point across. They should be used SPARINGLY, if at all. A barrage of expletives says a whole lot more about YOU than the point you are trying to get across.

Unless this is your first game at Tiger Stadium, you KNOW exactly what the atmosphere is going to be like. You know how much cursing will go on. You know that if the offense/defense struggles, it will be worse. You know how much drinking will take place. You know that "Neck" will be followed with a "Suck that Tiger Dick" chant. Those are guaranteed to happen.

If you are not ready to handle that atmosphere, then you should actively try to change the policy. However, Tigerdroppings is not the avenue for that.

Logically, complaining about drunk people and cursing at an LSU football game is like complaining about naked women at a strip club or cursing at a bar. If you cannot handle what is the expected norm for the venue, then you should either avoid the venue or actively get the policy changed. Either way, your bitching on Tigerdroppings will do NOTHING.

Mindenfan, that's the bottom line to all this. I take my kids to every game and have for about the past 8 years. I have no problem with people throwing out a rare expletive when "it just comes out" from a big play/call. The kids will/have heard most of it already at school. Somebody f-bombing every other word is low rent no matter the setting. The people in my section have enough sense to be rowdy yet civil so we don't have problems and we can all enjoy the games.

Not so fast my friend, they tossed a drunk dude from sec 614 in the Upper West last Saturday. I sit in 615 and saw all the commotion. I agree it is far and few between but if a fan goes get security, they'll toss someone.

This is exactly what it boils down to. A fan tells security because you can't keep your drunk trap closed and out the door you go. Most people just don't ever get security.
