x10. It's amazing how up in arms people get over words.

Depends on my mood. Does that upset you?

There are tons of prudes in this thread and a few people that say they don't cuss at all.
You know, part of "Growing Up" is knowing when it's cool to cuss and when it's not, and usually it's the setting. It's wisdom that you lack, and that comes with growing up a little.
And no... Dropping F Bombs at the company Christmas Party or talking about your boss' wife's breasts isn't going to necessarily get it either just because "oh well, I had a little too much to drink."
Learn to control your own behavior. It's the mark of a grown up, not a child, and age has less to do with growing up. I've known 40 and 50 somethings who seem to have lived all those years without moving past square one in maturity from their High School days. That's not society's problem. That is an idividual problem that society doesn't have to tolerate.

Or society doesn't have to tolerate people who get all worked up over what one group deems to be offensive or foul language. Who is society? What does that even mean?

My point is perfectly clear. LSU is well within its rights to eject publicly drunk and verbally abusive patrons. There are pages of posts in this thread stating the position that people have the right to be publicly drunk and verbally abusive. Many at least implicitly defend the rights of underage students to engage in this behavior. I have recently been to NBA games and other major college football games (Univ. of Michigan) and in comparison LSU is much worse. Behavioral standards are not nearly as enforced. Regardless of what anyone thinks, the public drunkeness and abusive behavior is classless, and yes, illegal.

Nah, I know the drunk obnoxious cool ones with vomit on their shirt leave early. Just wondering how long you made it.

Responsible adults. I don't think you have a membership.

Wow, how did you know? Hope you feel better.

So you think major college football is family time on a campus that cherishes it's tailgating and rowdy fans?
Perhaps part of growing up should also include recognizing where there is a high chance you will hear something that offends you that you have little influence over.
My parents brought me to Tiger Stadium when I was under 10, and we heard all sorts of profanity. I seemed to turn out OK, and your kids will too I'd imagine.

It doesn't happen everywhere. I've been to games at other SEC stadiums and have taken my kids and didn't have to worry about people cursing all around me. And, they were still able to cheer and cheer loudly.
Why do LSU fans think that is the best way to go.
It's stupid.
I agree with this 100%. It isn't an issue where I sit, but it is still a big problem outside the stadium making your way to the game. It really has a negative impact on the university and gives the false impression the entire fan base is trash. As bad as I hate to see the pay for all campus parking phased in, hopefully the impact will be to minimize the garbage that migrates to campus every game day.

You're still not getting it. LSU DOES NOT enforce any such rule. Not anywhere I've ever sat anyway.

I think that LSU needs to look into how to properly control this situation. Banning songs isn't the answer. The students will just come up with new words to "All I do is win, win win". I think of possible alternatives as I type this.
The problem that LSU has is how do you control 14K students? How do you eject them all for profanity? I don't think it's possible and I'm sure neither do they. I'm sure LSU would welcome any reasonable suggestions. How do other schools handle this issue? People have posted that the cheers at Wisconsin and other schools are as bad, if not worse, than at LSU. I find that hard to believe that there is worse than the tiger dick chant.

Not so fast my friend, they tossed a drunk dude from sec 614 in the Upper West last Saturday. I sit in 615 and saw all the commotion. I agree it is far and few between but if a fan goes get security, they'll toss someone.

It's EVERYONE's TIME, not just your's or their's, but everyone's. It's a mixed group of people, and so big people can drink, but are still responsible for controlling their behavior. It's nobody else's problem that people are drunk and can't control their own liquor. That's childishness.

That's because you're young. I was also brought to the games as a kid, and although there was always the village idiot here and there, it wasn't near as rampant as it is today. That's because society's changed, and waxed worse over time. People are more childish than they ever have been.

I refer back to my post from a few days ago. If the Chicago Bulls reserve the right to toss verbally abusive patrons then so can LSU.quote:It is not acceptable that we simply leave kids at home because someone thinks Tiger Stadium is an appropriate forum to be publicly drunk and abusive. This is not a freedom of speech issue and LSU would not be liable under any law for ejecting abusive patrons.
I would like my kids to be able to attend sporting events without witnessing obvious public drunkeness and verbal abuse.
no one is defending cursing. Your comment doesn't make sense. are you saying lsu should ban tailgaiting? there is a lot of public drunkeness/cursing OUTSIDE tiger stadium.
Should bourbon street be shut down? how far do you go with civility?
you are not going to change the behavior of others in this world. that is a fact. you control what you can control. your child and their development.
I think it's a poor decision to try and "shelter" them from reality. it's a great opportunity to educate and demonstrate parenting. you are the parent of the child, not the people in the stands.

But the topic of THIS thread is Profanity IN Tiger Stadium.
My main objection is the organized chants of the students. There's always going to be someone on any given day in any given section that's going to drop the F bomb in front of God and everyone.
Posted on 11/23/10 at 8:30 am to LNCHBOX
I get your point. I got it before. I don't think you get my point. My point is there are too many people defending the behavior or saying those who disagree should just be quiet or leave kids at home. That's wrong. Once enough people complain LSU will enforce the appropriate standards. Once knuckleheads realize they will consistently be ejected or arrested for public drunkeness and disorderly conduct in Tiger Stadium the situation will improve.

Not following your logic. If anything that should make it worse since a lot in here claim their older generation didn't curse in the stadium ever
quote:

The game I remember most was LSU v Ole Miss in Ole Miss section. Way more vulgar then the current student section.
quote:
It's EVERYONE's TIME
And this is the main point. Until LSU begins ejecting people for vulgarity, IT WILL NOT STOP.
quote:
Perhaps another part is knowing that you don't have to put up with it either.
You actually kinda do have to put up with it. All this huffing on the internet is doing nothing. Again, I'm not advocating it, merely realizing it's here and not going to change without a policy change from LSU.
And posting on the RANT is not how you get policy to change, so can we please stop these threads?
