We've read a ton of stuff on what's bad about public profanity. Maybe the pro-profanity crowd could enlighten us on the positive aspects of screaming profanities in public?
I'll start things off: screaming profanities in public is an excellent way to identify yourself as a moron who should shunned by anyone with an IQ above 70.

Man and tell me not to curse like a man! I'll beat your arse pussy!
And everyone wonders why LSU has such a bad rap in the United States.
ESPN hates us!!!....what a loser, bull shite statement!!
Maybe if we acted civilized and like southerners instead of ignorn ay red necks we wouldn't get the reputation we have EARNED!!!

There are so many words that go unused in the English language these days to describe things, and yet F-bombs are in no short supply either. Honestly, when people curse like this around kids, I tend to look at them as the bottom of the barrel, a pretty low bred group of humanity. There's just no getting around that when it's every other word out of their mouth really. But you can bet that the same people will look at you with this puzzled look on their face when you bring out a couple of five dollar words that in many other English speaking countries, and in parts of this one as well, is just part of their every day vocabulary, but not here. Whip one of those out and those folks think you're from a different planet. Pull out a MFer though, and you're one of the clan. They know what that means.
WooooHoooo... Dang.... He's one of us.
I wonder if our lack of reading books compared to being entertained by the TV culture and music culture has anything to do with that? Hmmmmm.

Have thicker skin people. You are critical of the people around you using the language yet, you are in a stadium supporting the very players and coaches who use this language on a daily basis. Worse things in the world have happened.

Thick skin doesn't do anything to shield kids from that kind of nonsensical behavior from adults who you would think should know better, and have a little more control over their own tongues in public. And hey, if you can't control your own behavior when drinking, maybe you're too immature to drink, or maybe you don't need to get hammered.

Or maybe realize you're at a football game. If you're so worried about the profanity these kids may hear, then maybe you should also not subject them to the violence that is football.

Profanity is really nothing more than an artificial social construct. There's nothing inherently classless or offensive about those words.

Students need some manners. In addition, they need to learn how to follow the band and chant. They are always speeding things up. I thought the ACT scores were higher than ever before. You would not know it from these two cases.

There is a very distinct line between people who have class and respect for themselves and others and those who do not. If you use profanity in the presence of women and children or defend those who do, you are slime, very simple.
Why is this so hard to understand?
I went to a friends house and we had kids around. One of my "friends" was cursing every time something bad happened. I had to call him out about it cause no one else had the balls to.
Some people just have no class and need to be put in their place every once in a while.

Agreed, but ACT scores dont translate into rhythm.

the profanity and vulgarity has increased over
the last few years. in spite of that i see more
women and chlidren at lsu games.
its clearly out of hand....much worse than my experience at saints games.
the problem of the crude vulgarity is that it
not sporadic ...it is constant all game long.

You have lost mind or have no clue what class is all about..

A point not lost on the typical eight-year old attending a game.

It happens, it is not good and it will not change. It happens at all stadiums now!!
If you use the language in your everyday world, it certainly comes out in Tiger Stadium.

this is something i have just never understood .. how does getting obnoxiously drunk .. or just drunk period suppliment one's enjoyment of the football game ?? sure, i drink on gameday .. but i like to watch the game, remember it, and not have a roaring headache by halftime, so i cut it off 3 hours before kickoff and drink the crap out of me some water all day ..
