I don't have a preference, but with dual-threats I don't think accuracy is a huge necessity. Based on scheme with a running QB, receivers tend to get more open than in a pro style system. Pro style offenses require much more timing and precision, having to fit balls into tight windows and getting the pass off quicker. Dual threats scrambling abilities and threat of the run on sprint outs gives receivers more time to get open and forces DB's to cover longer.

I was a huge fan of this year's LSU offense and the success throwing out of run based formations. However, QB's with an arm like Mett don't come around that often and high schools all seem to be going toward a spread, dual threat QB system. It may be easier to find that type of QB nowadays.

Hard to find a true dual threat. LSU really hasn't had one.

Exactly. Most "dual threats" out there seems to really be single threat or at best, 1.5 threats.

Maybe we will see a two quarterback system with Jennings and Harris. Could be extremely beneficial rather than just one low percentage dual threat.

Like Russell & Randall.

Hmmmmm....

If you want to compare the two then say you like the Mett style better than the Ryan Perriloux style. Two good LSU quarterbacks that were different styles.

Yep. And, that one is hard to say. I mean yes, Mett if we're comparing. But, had RP not boneheaded it, he may well have been tremendous for us.

I like what someone else said. Gimme a guy who throws well but can move like Rogers. Yeah yeah. Guy can dream of course.

Here's what I don't want. I don't want a guy who, regardless of how good he is otherwise, the following are true.

1)We're screwed if we MUST pass to catch back up or drive with 2 minutes to go

2)3rd and 13 is considered no better than a prayer.

Yep, a passing QB who can occasionally run isn't really a dual threat. It's just a QB who can run when the opportunity presents itself. JJ was a passing QB who could run, but really wasn't a dual threat QB.

Don't think Jennings is either.

Outside of Mett, haven't had a strong QB in a while.

Lee could have and should've been a Mauck/Flynn type guy but just terrible coaching.

JJ was a dumpster fire.

Shepherd was just

The recruiting ordeal with Kiel.

In 6 seasons, 1 season of strong QB play. Unacceptable for a school of LSUs caliber.

Amaze people still get hung up on the "pick sixes" instead of the 16 ints. Shows who understands football and who just repeats what they read.

Exactly would rather see more Mett style than JJ style.

Both of them were pro-style QBs. Jefferson was just less talented and had much worse QB coaching/development.

Jefferson's mobility doesn't magically make him worse.

dual threat...a qb who is also an athlete. a lot of things have to happen perfectly for a PS to be really effective. DT opens up the field and the offense and can many times turn oline mistakes into plus yardage. accuracy is, of course, paramount. JMO.

Bingo. JJ and Lee unfortunately had crappy offensive/QB coaching throughout their career. Cam showed what a real offensive mind could do.

Hard to judge JJ and Lee based on this fact.

2 QB's at LSU at the same time. One sucked because of bad coaching. The other, who had the same coaches, just sucked.
