PR department does need some work. Advocate not helping things
Rabalias really helping things out with that title

quote:

He was caught by the test administrator Jason Shoemake, who then saw Fulton dump out the container and begin to fill it with his own sample.

quote:

In other words, they held Fulton to the letter of the law and upheld his punishment accordingly.

quote:

But however wrong or overly rigid the NCAA might be in this case, no one forced Kristian Fulton to attempt to game the drug test except himself. Ultimately, blame starts and ends with him. But both he, and LSU, pay the price.

Is this the same guy that went on Finebaum and said LSU fans were more interested in the upcoming basketball season than football?

Where is he wrong here?

it's not his job to be a spokesman for LSU.

I thought Pomansky was supposed to reign the media in.

When your agency/organization fails to provide messaging and narratives to the media, the media makes them for you.

That’s how PR works.

ponamsky controls the airwaves. DD is the only writer that takes his orders. of course i use the term writer loosely when referring to him.

I would not be surprised to see DP attempt to limit Rabalais' access inside the program because of this "hit piece" (aka recounting the facts).

You say this like it isn't true. Basketball season is gonna be way better than football season this year.

No one forced Fulton to take a banned substance that would require a forged sample either. Had he taken the test and failed it on his own merit, his punishment would be much less severe.

Could not agree more here.

That's absolutely freaking ridiculous. Not even close to true. Let me give you a recounting of facts:

Vegas releases odds LSU O/u 7> Media runs with this through media days> everyone assumes LSU is just going to suck

I'm excited to see a potentially good basketball team, but to insinuate that we are the next Kentucky this year both in regard to how good the BB team is or the lack of interest in football is ridiculous and are probably only made by people who just dont know what the heck is going on in this city.

Think about this. The rule to punish an athlete for cheating the test is tougher than the rule is for cheating the game and taking PEDS.

It doesn't excuse Fulton for what he did, he deserves to be punished; but even bank robbers go before parole boards and get reduced sentences based on their behavior after they are punished.

The system doesn't make sense. There should be a mechanism to help athletes and not just a system to punish athletes.

It amazes me that LSU doesn’t have a PR professional on staff for athletics

Wait. If he saw Fulton pour the “fake sample out” then fill the cup with his own and turned that cup in, the Fulton did not “attempt to cheat”.

I think people had very low expectations for this upcoming season (for a number of reasons) LONG before Vegas released any odds. If anything, that was just confirmation of the general expectations for this football season both local and nationally. It's isn't just a narrative created in the last few months.

There's ALWAYS going to be more interest in football. That's just how it is in the SEC (outside of UK). But I suspect, optimism will be much higher for the basketball team this year than the football team this year (at least to start their respective seasons). In fact, it's not only probable, but likely that LSU's basketball team starts the year ranked higher than the football team.
I can tell you there is a LOT more hope and optimism with Wade than there is in Ogeron.

If LSU wants "good PR", then stop cheating and start competing for championships. The Fulton decision is probably a bit harsh in light of conduct that his punished far less severely. But at this point it's done.

why didn't Jason Shoemake give Fulton a heads up that he was watching? Is Shoemake and LSU admistrator of some sort or from BR? If this was at another school, in another state 2 states over, this failure would not have occurred as the admin would have just warned him that he was watching as soon as he saw him attempt the switch.. It's these little details that kill us. (see the thread on Sabans big binder). It is a team effort (including judges, police, doctors, professors, et al.) to make a NC caliber team.

Letter of the law? They broke testing protocol.

So we just enforce what they want to?

This is complete bull shite.

If you want the media to help you out you have to either win, or give them access. It's quid pro quo.

If you don't do either they won't lift a single finger to paint you in a positive light.
