Why would he throw him out there for 1 pitch? To trick Bianco or something?

Say your throwing a RHP so OM puts 5 LHH in lineup
Then after 1 batter bring in a LHP

I don’t think it worked

JJ is brilliant in a baseball, zen-like sense. Mere mortals can't comprehend it, so there's no use in trying to explain it.

This was the plan. Failed miserably.

Pissed off Dutton and accomplished nothing. Solid job JJ.

JJ does do annoying stuff as a coach with the constant long trips to the mound, long meetings with batters, etc. It's not exactly new in baseball, but I imagine he gets under the skin of other coaches and teams. So this move isn't out of line with stuff he normally does.

Wrong. I complained about it in another thread immediately after it happened, and I wouldn't have liked it even if LSU won by 10 today.

It's chicken shite, and LSU is getting what it deserved today. Johnson needs to take that shite back to the Pac-12.

I’ve been a JJ fan since the hire but what he did to Dutton was embarrassing to Dutton and I’d be pissed if I were him as well.

Pull him after the first pitch of the game is bush league I don’t care if he did throw the wrong pitch and it was hit hard.

I was there and watching Dugas to see if he was hurt bad and then saw pitching change and was like WTF.

If let a guy throw one pitch then pull him your not confident in your decisions at all. It's worked but I fricking hate watching baseball games with Jay Johnson involved. His antics with slowing the game down and changing pitchers 5 times an inning is too much man. I got other shite to do and it's already a slow game

Do you think IGAD about what people think if I’m managing a team? Nope and neither should he especially from dumbass fans.

Cranford getting a bases loaded 2 out AB in the highest leverage situation in the game is at least as astonishing

Rantz was correct, had Cranford not smacked one his bat before that, the he's probably PH for.

No. Just stating the obvious that he does annoying stuff, so this wasn't out of line for him. Unfortunately, this annoying move failed to produce a successful result. No one can criticize him for not trying to strategize though.

If Dutton didn't know he was going to do that though, that's shitty and poor communication from a manager about the team's plan.

His pitching staff is young and lacks any true starting pitchers. He is forced to be creative. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.

They will bring in more arms and develop the ones they have and be fine next year. I see several potential starting SEC pitchers on the roster now, but they need development and work
