If he breaks it, his line should be loaded with asterisks. Not close to the same comparison IMO.

Pete’s in a world all his own…

He didn’t, finished 3 points short.

Maybe he can beg for a 6th full year of college basketball.

It’s pathetic that the “worldwide leader” is trying to sell this as some sort of equal accomplishment. CBI bid incoming so everyone can get up in their feels about some ancient athlete that couldn’t hold Pete’s jockstrap

Yeah unfortunately they will get a CBI and he will technically beat it.

It's the CBI. If the check clears they are in.

There is also the Basketball Classic, which DMU played in last year at 14-15 and got blasted by FGCU

When you think about it he’s setting a different record, not breaking Pistol’s.

Pistol Pete - 3 years
Nobody - 5 years

No comparison. End of story. When a player breaks Pistols record in 3 years with no 3 point shot and no time clock. Then the record is broken. Which will never happen. So they are all full of $hit.

Whew.
I was not at all optimistic that this was going to happen.

The Pistol will always be the GOAT in my book.

The only number they look at is can you pay $50,000. LSU could play in the CBI as well.

Easy solution- LSU pays their way into that tourney, expressing "a desire to be part of history" and "passing the torch", etc.

They match us up with Detroit Mercy- who knows, maybe we pay double (1 mil?) to ensure the matchup.

At the opening tipoff, Trae Hannibal gets ejected for jack-slamming that dude
Post-game, Matt McMahon, when asked about it, says simply that LSU still has the all-time leading scorer, with a smile.

Maravich's record stays, McMahon reaps the goodwill of the fan base, and Vitale et al cry about LSU again. Wins for everyone.

I want to say I read on here that his dad is the coach. If that’s the case there’s no doubt he’s not getting them to cut that check.

His son will get the record and the school will get publicity worth more than the value of that check.
