re: Pick 6's Since '08
JLee is the "Best that never was" because of Miles freaking out after '08. JLee could throw the ball. I am in Morgantown, WV and was talking about how JLeeled LSU to victory that night on his arm and OBJ was a Freshman. Doesn't seem like 6 years ago already.

I actually only recall some close ones. Like Harris against bama. LSU had a chance to go up on bama but Harris over threw his wide open te and bama never looked back from then on.

He completed less than 50% of his passes for 180 yards. Beckham had two catches in that game.

But sure, he was great.

Ford, Ware and Claiborne did just as much to blow that game open.

Jennings threw one against Iowa, or almost did.

Exactly. Post-2008 the passing game was designed to avoid even the potential for an interception at all costs. The intermediate middle of the field was no-mans land for Les. Unless he had no choice, 90% of passes were "safe" passes.

Actually moving the ball through the passing game was secondary to avoiding the risk of a turnover.

No one will ever break J Lee's record! He put that thing out of reach for years to come!

You do realize Les coached Lee, the pick 6 king of college football?

So the answer I've garnered from reading this thread is 1 ('13 Mett vs Furman) plus some close ones. 1 cannot be the answer?!? Is that it?

The '08 season completely changed LSU's offense for the rest of Miles' tenure.
That's a pretty simplistic view.
IMO 2009, the very next year, was more on par with previous LSU norms of about 350 att per season and 2008 was actually very near 2001 Rohan to Reed airshow attempts.

It led to the 1975 game plans for the last 8 1/4 seasons that Miles was here.

2012 and 2013 were also about average in att/season and I think Miles increased attempts with increased confidence in QB.

Other than 2001, above average attempt seasons were somewhat skewed by LSU playing from behind a lot in 2008, and an extra game in 2007 and 2003.

Mett either threw one or almost threw one against South Carolina in 2012. It was returned like 60 yards inside the 5 yard line

I remember that. Just looked it up, it was returned 70 yards to the 1 yard line. Scored 2 plays later

So not a pick 6, but virtually one.

We really beat the crap out of South Carolina that night. Very fun game.
