not impressed at all with FSU o line after watching game.

QB is good. backs look good. the dukes actually had time to pass many times. if we get that amount of time we burn them. plus the dukes made some bad throws into double coverage to small receivers

i feel much better after seeing that game.

One thing I noticed was how everyone talking about how shifty their backs were. But what they didn’t say is their backs were having to make defenders miss either at the line of scrimmage or in the backfield. Granted their starting center was out so I’m sure that didn’t help much

Was FSU's last good offensive line in 2013 when they won the national championship?

It was a big problem during Jimbo's last two seasons there, and I can't recall a season since where it significantly improved.

I’ve been posting this all day today:

They played a team with 160lb DBs, 200lb LBs, 240lb DLs and not a single OL even close to 300lbs. LSU puts a completely different animal on the field in a week. ...

Also the QB for FSU made some bad reads, but I think it’s gonna be a decent game but LSU walks away with it in the 4th

Fsu 23
Lsu 17

Book it and take it to the bank. Fsu will win this season and Lsu will win next season. Lsu will be dangerous as the season progresses but will take an L the first game because they won't be clicking on all cylinders yet.

Looks like he’s attempting a reach block and his job is done

Watch the entire play in the OP. (2nd link) He completely gets blown off the line of scrimmage initially. #71 misses his block entirely. The RB does a great job preventing the play from being a tackle for loss.

And FSU will be clicking on all cylinders right? Lol

The game might be close, but FSU will have to have the greatest practice week in the history of CFB to come away with a win in New Orleans next week. The only thing that game did for FSU is give them a little film to self evaluate and give them false hope. If they think they will run the ball against this LSU team like they just did or even have consistent success then you haven’t been paying attention.

I think our running game will have success and we will have a few surprises to show FSU to add to that success. We will use it in this game, I’m certain of it because our coaches just saw what I did and it’s a pretty big advantage for LSU and it will really frustrate the FSU defense.

We have at least 4 pro WR’s that will see plenty of time in this game and when I say 4 pro’s, I don’t mean 3rd or 4th rounders. We have 4 legitimate 1st and high second rounders, possibly more? I didn’t see any 1st rounders and maybe 1 2nd or 3rd rounder at WR for FSU. Those backs are good but very light, except for one. Those light guys won’t like being hit by a corner back who is bigger than they are much less one of our LB’s / big DBs coming down hill with bad intentions.

These guys are hungry, ready to prove doubters wrong, finally equipped and in the best shape of their careers. We have two real OLBs who can get to the QB with ease and a DE who is also very quick but can set the edge up nicely for our LBs and DBs to come clean up. Our LBs can play side to side and cover. When we force a run to the outside, which will happen often, we won’t be missing those tackles and FSU won’t be able to just easily run through our guys. There will be 6-7 LSU players on the ball.

We aren’t going to play 8 yards off of those WRs. We going to be in their face, jamming them off routes and the middle of the field is going to look like a thick purple and gold bush when that QB looks in the middle. Even those quick slants, digs, curls and WR screens will be contested. FSU struggled catching the ball when they were open or with a defender 2 yards away. They’ll only have a foot of open space at best on most throws. Inches in some cases.

I suspect FSU will score some points by calling unexpected plays in key moments but there won’t be any consistency to be had. That causes frustration to an offense, which in turn will cause mistakes. Not to mention this will be a home game of sorts for LSU which will add to the pressure. I hope these FSU players are listening to the national narrative about LSU. I suspect many will believe this team is down and will be very surprised when they actually meet up on the field. It’s going to be a tough game for both teams of course but LSU just has more and now has great leadership behind the talent.

It's not like it's for a few games, I'm pretty sure it's for the entire year. This is their starting OL, barring more injuries. We need a spy on their QB though. I don't want this to turn into an Auburn situation.

it's been bad for a long time now. What Dalvin Cook and Cam Akers were able to do behind those abysmal lines is still amazing to me.

It's not a game thing, it's a talent thing. FSU has had bad OL play for a LONG time now. I'm talking since Jimbo was last there. I had never even heard of that school they played before I saw their schedule and those players are smaller than just average. FSU fans, yes, FSU's fans, were very happy with the win because they beat a team like they were supposed to. It's not like they played and beat a team like they were supposed to in say, Syracuse, no they were happy because even a mediocre FCS opponent, they beat they like they should.

Why not put the FSU logo beside your account name? Man it's going to be pretty bad for you next week.

I’ll reserve judgment until the game. No matter who the coach is, the Cardiac Cats always find a way to turn a team’s weakness into a strength come game time.
