I’m sure, like all NBA guys, had his share plus of women.

He did not from all accounts. He was too private of a player.

Best player ever. Had the honor of seeing him play in person.

Saw him speak at Park Ave. Baptist Church about two years before he died here in Nashville. He was a changed person for sure, a devout Christian. Definitely got the feeling he regretted devoting so much of his life to basketball. Said he had basketball, but that's all he had when he was younger. On the court, no one will ever handle the rock like Pete did.

I grew up on videos of him that my dad made me watch to teach me the game. I wrote book reports on him in middle school and still to this day have gotten tired of watching his videos or stories. A true legend.

When the Jazz started out hot and were leading the conference with a 7-1 record, I was at the Superdome that night when they beat the Lakers. They set an NBA attendance record that night...I remember the number -26,341. I bought a Times Picayune the next day, circled the "1" in 26,341, and told everybody that was me!

I remember a specific game against Georgia, I think. The thing that stood out was towards the end of the game, Pete took control of the ball for at least the last 2 minutes, maybe 3 minutes. He went 1 on 5 as Georgia tried to interrupt his ball control. It started as 1 on 2 and gradually as time began to run down, additional Georgia players joined in the pursuit and by the time the buzzer sounded 4 or maybe 5 Georgia players were in pursuit. With about 10 seconds left he did a half court hook shot and turned to go to the locker room as the ball swished nothing but net. I have never found a video of that moment and have begun to wonder if it has been reconstructed in my mind. Does anyone on this board have any recollections of that last 2 minutes. I would appreciate a confirmation of it happening as I hope it just isn't a figment of my imagination.

A legit cool story bro. I very rarely listened to Jazz games on the radio but was listening the night of the Buffalo game when he blew out his knee. Hot Rod Hunley called the games back then.

My happiest birthday memory was Nov 5, 1975...my parents and I went to see the Jazz play the Lakers at the Dome...I had graduated from Officer Basic Course the day before and came home before heading to Korea.

that was one helluva game, Pete versus Kareem (or as my dad said "Kooreem")...it was the first night the Jazz set the NBA attendance record on top of beating the Lakers!!!!!!

Good to be an old boomer. Got to see him at LSU and with the Jazz. He changed the game.

I would have loved to have seen him play. There should be a 30 for 30 on him, if there isn’t already.

Here ya go. There are multiple specials on him and both Pistol and Maravich books are fantastic.
Both have been done. Also, movies are out there that took him through 8th grade as I recall.
