quote:meh. Depends. Easy to say if LSU is up 2 scores. But, against USCe, LSU adjusted at halftime a little and BOOM the dude goes the distance on the 2nd carry. You think Williams or even Guice go the distance on that carry? Williams picks up about 8 yards. That carry gave LSU the separation it needed for the rest of the game.
I like the idea of not using fournette much in the 3rd quarter and then letting him run wild on a tired defense in the 4th.

probably only 10-12 carries against WKU.
Doubtful, he will get his normal workload. WKU is at a minimum on the level of a bottom tier SEC team this year.

that is total horse shite. Williams is at least the equal of Derrick Henry who IS a Primary RB for a Top level SEC PROGRAM. Williams runs much harder than Henry, has better vision, and is just as fast. If Williams were at any other program in the SEC, other than Gerogia (prior to Chubb getting Hurt), he would be the starter.
This is homer as hell man. Williams is like Hilliard in his earlier years, or Ware with better vision. Those can be starters, but neither would start over Alex Collins, Derrick Henry, Jalen Hurd, Sony Michel, Russell Hansbrough, or Boom Williams.

They don't want him getting it 30 times a game so look for Guice and Williams to get more carries early so Fournette can be saved for the 4th quarter. I'm not sure how I feel about that honestly.
I rather this than use him up early. The 4th quarter is where he can get big yards.

Fournette has said already once this season don't believe what you hear or who claims to speak for him.
LSU has been nothing short of great to Fournette and they always value his input

I know how I feel, I think its fricking stupid.
I understand they want him to get paid, but come on, even when a player gets injured its not like they're forever ruined. The best tend to bounce back:
Todd Gurley
Adrian Peterson
Jamaal Charles
All RBs who were injured and came back just fine.
If this is true these people (Leonard included if he's in the same boat) need to grow a pair of nuts. And don't get me wrong, I am the biggest LF fan there is and love everything about the guy.
But if someone like Jadeveon Clowney (who I don't think has half the character Leonard has) doesn't sit out his last year, then there is no reason for Leonard to.
Can you imagine if Leonard sat out and we had a bad start to the season? EVERYONE would put the blame on him for it.

Winning the Heisman and becoming a Louisiana god for the rest of his life will do a lot for his future as well. Not saying it's better than NFL millions, but he'll get that first contract anyway, look at Todd Gurley.
But seriously look at guys like Manziel and Tebow, they've been huge flops in the NFL but they're still super marketable and get endorsements and everything bc of their college careers

LF only had what 21(?) carries against USCe, and sat on the bench for most of the third and all of the 4th quarter.
Complaint does not compute.

I think it's fair to say LF is not attending LSU to attain a degree. These 3 years were meant to showcase his ability. The rules of the NCAA and the NFL are keeping him in school or at least delaying his entry to the NFL. Contrary to popular belief LSU is not a farm team for the NFL. There is no place that LF can go and just sit until his time comes ans have him retain his skill level where it is. If there was, he would be there as we speak. LF is a man with a moral compass and skills beyond belief. He is where he wants to be. Dark clouds of worry don't need to be introduced to his agenda.

Sounds like people are more concerned about their "meal ticket."
As would you if you were ever lucky enough to have a meal ticket. Or, it could be loving parents who are concerned about the health of their son. Obviously you have not concept of that.

Ben Love and Fournette's camp need to STFU. Putting that out there does nothing but cause drama

Going into a bye week? If he gets his yards and TDs on less than 20 carries and LSU has a comfortable lead, then he'll sit. If not, I expect his touches to be between 20-25 like usual.

There is just as likely a chance that this came from some self-proclaimed "uncle" as it did his parents.

He can still want the ball and sacrifice carries for the betterment of the team/his teammates.
That's just him being selfless more than it is him not wanting the ball.

This was known before he signed. Camp Fournette were always under the impression it would be "RB by committee " I'm not surprised at all this has come up. Does not bode well for next year especially......
Shut the frick up. We didn't recruit a running back for two seasons before Fournette. We promised him the lion's share of the carries from the day we started recruiting him. They knew damn well he was going to be the feature back, and that's how they wanted it. GTFO with your bullshite bruh. You don't know what you're talking about.

1. Who knows how accurate this report is?
2. Les and LSU don't seem to be "overworking" Fournette
3. If Fournette isn't on the team, I think Guice would be leading the SEC in rushing. He's special. So giving him significant carries in a game is not a bad thing.
That said, if you don't think that Fournette and and his family are looking past LSU towards the NFL, then you are either incredibly naive or just disingenuous. Don't get me wrong, I think he likes being at LSU and is saying all the right things, but LSU is just a necessary stop on the way to the real goal, making millions in the NFL. After seeing what happened to Chubb, I certainly couldn't blame him or his family if they wanted to make sure things were done limit, as much as possible, his injury risk while at LSU. This kid has a chance to make more money in 2 years' time, than many on this board will make in a lifetime. He could shut it down today and still be a 1st round pick in 2017. He's that physically gifted. His family knows that and I'm sure they're just want to make sure, as any family would, that their loved one gets the full opportunity to reap the rewards for his work and God given ability.
