People seem to forget when Pelini was here the first time, there were no defensive analysts on staff. Pelini had to spend time breaking down film to design the defensive game plan. Now LSU employs analysts to do that job, which will free up more time for Pelini to coach/teach players. Also, the first time around LSU didn't employ a safeties coach to reduce some of Pelini's workload as well. Pelini will find he has more time to coach, teach, and design the defensive gameplan than he ever had before at LSU.

3 down votes already. That's awesome! The anti LSU, Coach O, Pelini, and LSU football program lurkers are trolling the TRant. I say welcome haters. Speak your piece.

As long as he produces, I think he stays here for the long haul this time. He's already gone the head coaching route and it didn't seem to suit him quit well.

I'm not sure on that he may want to get back in the discussion for head coach material with P5 after a good run here.

he needs to have:

1) learned to defend passing attacks better
2) learned to calm down

1) I agree but that is true to any DC that coached in 2007 that is still a DC in 2020. The game has changed.

2) Why? He is not a HC anymore. Arguably the best DC in College football is Brent Venables who is a fricking lunatic.

by calm down I really meant STOP INSULTING THE FANS AND THE MEDIA .. does not score any points.

....when you are winning your enemies can not hurt you
when you are losing, your friends can not help you..
it will be at this last stage that he will need all the help he can get...

stop burning bridges

Agree - he loved it here and made that all too clear at Nebraska.

Look at O though, you learn as you go. Something perfect could pop up and he may be better prepared.

I like the enthusiasm.
When you understand opposing fans are allowed to post here then you will understand why good posts are down voted.

If they could do a survey of down votes it would look like this:
1. Texas A&M
2. Bama
3. Florida
4. Take your pick of other SEC schools and throw in ULL and Texas.

The man only seems to get mad praise from very respectable football people. I mean..they could just say nothing...but they make him out to be a mad genius. I know he has been away from being a DC for a little while..but I think our D is in really good hands.

He will be better by default from having an offense now. We leaned far too heavily on our defenses for many of those years. He's gotta be excited with the change.

I agree with all of your points. Not only will he have more specialized staff, more information at this fingertips, and comparable or better players... He will have pods.

First off it’s a mortal certainty that his defenses won’t perform better than they did the first time around. You guys who live inside this bubble have trouble understanding that times have changed in college football and football all together. Pelini hasn’t fielded a good defense in nearly a decade so to start the false narrative that concerns aren’t warranted or that anyone who is concerned is anti-O is simply BS. Pelini might be great but there’s noway his defenses will have better numbers than they did between 05 and 07.

Lol so true! Many years ago it would upset me that I would get all kinds of shite for any random post. Eventually you learn there are just miserable bastards here that just look for grammar, rules, no link, blah blah! Just learned to laugh at them.
