On getting swept:

- I've experienced it before. It doesn't get better; it gets worse. It's not the end of the world. You can't feel sorry for yourself or mope. There's only way to do something about it: work harder, stay more positive, tell your kids you love them and believe in them. There's no time to feel sorry for yourself. Nothing good will happen if you do that. 50% of the people out there don't care about your problems and the other 50% are glad you have them.

On Vandy's pitching:

- Told Jaden Hill that everyone will be coming to see Leiter pitch. His goal should be for those scouts to leave talking about Jaden. If you want to be a first rounder and MLB pitcher what better opportunity to showcase yourself? Grasp it. Seize the moment. This is your day, not Leiter's day. If you can't handle that, this game is not for you. This game is for the tough competitors. I believe you are one of those people. So go be the leader and put the team on your back. You're not pitching against Leiter; you're pitching against Vandy's hitters. Told the same thing to Marceaux in regards to Rocker. If you have to win 1-0 then do it.

- Many times I've gone out recruiting to see a specific player and end up seeing someone else who jumped out to me. That's the opportunity Marceaux and Hill have. It's a golden opportunity for them. The professional scouting world will be watching these games.

On last weekend:

- You can learn through experience and failure to come big in the big moments. The media and fans expect us to come through the moment the get on campus. But it has to be learned. College baseball has changed so much because kids sign quickly and you have to count on young players all the time. If Mathis and Garza hadn't signed, we wouldn't be counting on some of these guys. We have 2 guys that have played in SEC games: Beloso and Dugas. It was a hostile environment in Tennessee. They were in Trey Morgan's head. It was a difficult situation with umpires and calls going against us. The other team was not handling things with class. They were in that environment for the first time and they came up short. They learn from that and will be better the next time hopefully. We were competitive. We were one pitch or hit away.

- Describes the the runs that scored vs Marceaux in game one and how easily that could have been none or 1 run.

- We were right there. I'm not discouraged. Disappointed but not discouraged.

On USA game:

- I was scared to death going into that game. USA just swept a series. They're playing great. The 3 hole is a top prospect. They have good athletes all over the place. I was worried about the emotional state of our players. But we play a great game. Started with cage work. They were enthused. They were focused. We took advantage of walks. Pitchers did great piecing it together. Solid ball game.

- This young team needs good things to happen to them. I don't think it'll carry over to this weekend because it was one game. But I was proud at their approach. It was very emotional for me to see the kids bounce back.

On strategy vs Vandy:

- Vandy has a lot of great arms. As a private school, Vandy has access to financial aide that other schools don't have. God bless them. Tim does a great job of getting support from the university. They utilize their academic rep to the max.

- The approach has to be different. The swings have to be short. 97 mph is hard to catch up to. They have good offspeed as well.

- They had a great lineup 2 years ago when we faced Rocker. We were thin in our pitching down the staff and they got to us. Rocker was okay. He pitched 5 innings and we only had 2 Ks. I think we are gonna battle him. The wind is supposed to blow in strong from the north. I don't anticipate a lot of HRs or extra base hits.

- We are going to play great defense and take chances on the bases and hope for a clutch hit here or there. We have to play a sound fundamental game.

- Friday, we have to just focus on getting a hit. Leiter hasn't given up an extra base hit all year. I've never seen these numbers in my coaching career. He should be pitching today in the big leagues somewhere as an opening day starter.

Surprised he called out Tennessee's team like that, but yeah, pretty normal stuff.

He seems like a sh!tty leader. Definitely not someone that I can see myself following. All I heard was excuses...

He’s the freaking Les Miles of the baseball diamond.

Wow Tenn a hostile environment with the stands half full, what will he say when they go to Ole Miss and A&M. He gives some shitty explinations. Just say we are young and it was a tough road trip, this just sounds like whinning.

I get what he's saying, but let's not pretend that guys are encouraged to sign pro all the time to make room on the roster (and the scholarship roles) for the next group of players.

It's even referenced in the book Future Value by Kiley McDaniel and Eric Longenhagen.

Think about any guys with eligibility remaining that seemed like weird candidates to sign pro but ended up leaving, they didn't always have a spot waiting for them if they didn't sign. That's not just at LSU, but it definitely happens at LSU.

I thought the exact same thing when he said that. There was like 20 students giving the team hell and that was causing issues?

Did you even read the op? Or did you just come in here and were posting that no matter what? There are plenty of CPM quotes that would back your statement but those aren’t them.

Holy shite. That fired me up just reading it.

He probably reads the rant and is upset by people calling for us to hire Vitello.

I'm curious what he was talking about though. The stomping on the plate? Morgan started that.

I never noticed anything. I know some people here were upset about Evan Russell doing something or other, but if you don't like it don't give up 3 homers in a game to the same guy.

And the umpire thing definitely went both ways. They weren't biased, just wildly incompetent. Other teams seem to handle that kind of thing better than we do and I feel like that comes our guys playing tight, which comes from the way they're coached.

Sometimes it's easier to drown out those 20 students when the stadium is packed.

He said alot of the right things, I'll give him that. He just needs to tone down the whining and pouting.

I saw what appeared to be some trash talking towards our dugout after the walk-off. There could have been other things that we didn’t see on tv though.

Read that again. He was worried about the players' emotional state. Coming in to a game against a hot team, that can be a huge hurdle. Turns out they handled it well. He also mentioned how they had good energy immediately prior to the game in batting practice.

Stop nitpicking things and look at the overall statement. You guys are just looking for something to bitch about.

If there was back and forth going on before then, then I don't see the problem. We once had a Jordan brother flip off a pitcher he was friends with after a big hit. It fired me up.
