Be thankful we have a coach that learned to adapt to the new college game. That's been his biggest coaching acumen. Once the bats changed you had to change everything you did before. He went out and hired a pitching coach. He recruited SS to play in the infield and CF to roam the OF and a defensive catcher.

i can buy it being much harder to win now but paul can't keep us at as high of a level as bertman did every year. paul has to follow up this omaha trip with something better than 10 and 11. If he can do that then maybe the discussion can start.

Bertman built this program from nothing really, showed the others how it's done in sponsorship and following and the like, even going as far as to assist them in doing so, and to be quite honest, the SEC in general owes the man a debt of gratitude for making the SEC one of the most prominent baseball conferences out. Not only the mastermind behind the LSU baseball machine, but also critical in showing the other schools in the SEC and the state how it's done.
Personally, I like Paul better as a person, and think he's a great coach for the Tigers, but you gotta give the man his due. Nothing Paul can do will trump what Bertman put together here at LSU, and we should never forget that either.
