LSU has the best offense Clemson has faced, but Clemson also has the best defense LSU has faced—by a pretty wide margin.

- Pat Forde

by a borderline margin with UGA who we shellacked.

Ignores level of competition played to make this hot take.

And he has them kicking 3 total field goals after mentioning this:

quote:

and something tells me this comes down to a game-winning field goal by the same kicker (B.T. Potter) that Dabo Swinney famously ripped all over the sideline earlier in this season.

Not exactly disrespectful.

His reasoning is legit:

Because I've got to see someone beat them to believe it can happen.

He should write for Disney movies with this kind of logic

It generally takes talent to write a Disney movie.

Forde doesn't qualify.

Fitting that his nose looks like a bulbous clown appendage.

This is just such a silly statement. In no particular order we've faced

Georgia
Florida
Auburn
Alabama

Clemson's defense may be better than all 4 of those but they are probably worse than at least 2. We're gonna find out soon but to say they have the best defense by a "large margin" based on what they've done to this point is just bad journalism.

This just isn't true. UGA has just as good, if not better, of a defense. They played a much harder schedule though.

Scoring Defense Ranks:
Clemson: #1 - 11.3 PPG
UGA: #2 - 12.2 PPG (after we put up 37)

Opponent YPP:
Clemson: #2 - 3.9
UGA: #3 - 4.1 (after we put 6.5)

Opponent 3rd Down Conversion %:
UGA: #11 - 30.93%
Clemson: #13 - 31.34%
(Bonus: LSU #8 - 30.27% )

These defenses are a wash, with maybe UGA taking the cake due to schedule, and Pat Forde just doesn't know a damn thing about football.

Yeah, but the Superdome should be a stress free environment to really settle down and make routine field goals.

In other words, the averages of the score predictions give LSU a 36-33 victory in that list. (35.86 to 33.14)
