Because I prefer to be optimistic about the season while its going on, I decided to look at some of the national rankings of the teams from the past few championship series. I'm not saying it will happen, but if you focus on the average national rankings of the teams that played in the CWS title game in 2017,2018, and 2019, Hits/9 inn, era, and whip were the most consistent statistics that all these teams possessed. All were top 66 in the country at these metrics. Currently LSU qualifies as one of those teams and thats against a tougher schedule than most teams have faced so far...meaning these numbers should improve as the season goes on. Obviously its not a guarantee, but its a reason for hope.

There’s more baseball to be played. Almost anything can happen.

Duck, but you’re right. This is an extremely young lineup. Growing pains should be expected. Beloso getting his shite together is paramount.

We are very similar to the 2017 florida team if you look at the national rankings in the link above

I agree this team has more potential than most realize. Maybe I'm blinded by the quality arms this team has, but I think the hitting will eventually heat up.

I'm giving this team until Tax Day to get their lineup solidified.

I love the idiots who act like all hope is completely lost. There is absolutely reasons to be concerned. There is reasons to be upset. There is reasons to think Mainieri's time may be up. But to act like, at this point, the season is totally lost and it's a hopeless cause is just retarded.

Im not expecting it to be a great hitting team, just an average one could take us a long way

The fact that you went to all this trouble to spin the poor start is sad.

The fact that the ONLY time you show up in a baseball, or basketball, thread is when you have something to complain about is what is really sad.

I’ve never seen people go to such levels to defend a coach before.

I think we have the pitching to win a few SEC series but we do not have the HITTING to go to Omaha. There is not one player that opposing teams have to worry about except Cabrera’s at bats. This team has no leaders or swag that LSU once possessed. We’ve all played baseball in some kind of form so it’s a sport that we all kind relate to. There are some that think it’s a hard game that is way to smart for us average viewers to understand. Well I may not know all the intricate nuances of the game but I know besides 3 good pitchers, Cabrera, and a good or potentially good catcher we are not a TOP SEC ball team. Once we hit the SEC we will see what TOP SEC ball clubs look like. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t see us finishing much more than 5th in the conference.

I didn't read a single mention of a coach being defended.
