Per the interview with Mike Mayock:

quote:

He's (Derrius Guice) got some character concerns

Big Cat Questions what are the concerns with Guice?:

quote:

He's not going to miss a picture day like Fournette is he?

Mayock:

quote:

He's missed a few things this draft season thats all I'm going to say

From all that I've seen he seems to be a pretty stand up dude, saving people from car wrecks and such. Is there something that I am missing?

Dudes likes Mayock, they get to go around judging guys they don’t even know on “character issues”.

This is strictly a guess, so take it with a grain of salt. I think it is a combination of Guice outing how some of the NFL teams were questioning his sexuality and other teams spreading rumors so he will drop and they can grab him with a later pick. Remember, there are certain questions that are illegal to ask in an employment interview, and asking for someone's sexuality is one of those. They also asked him if his mother was a whore.

I understand that they ask those questions to see how he reacts, but when Guice told the news about those questions it wasn't exactly the best look for the NFL.

There are some questions not about what questions were actually asked in those interviews. Guice hasn't exactly backed up the claims lately.

When an NFL guy like Mayock makes a statement like this he is not just talking out the side of his neck...these guys knows how in depth NFL teams look into players' character and possibly a minor flaw came up that they just found out about.
Look what happened to L Collins totally innocent but that flag was raised

Yeah and it totally fricked L Collins when it was a totally unfounded accusation. I bet the shite with Guice is innocuous and going to have no bearing on his success at the next level.

These NFL guys talk out of both sides of their mouth with this character issue crap. If they really cared about some of the issues then some players should never go drafted or play in the NFL. All they care about is what you can do for them as long as you don't kill anyone, punch your girlfriend or fail drug tests.

Collins situation was totally different, his one time girlfriend was murdered and there was some speculation around that investigation. He was cleared of any wrongdoing but there was so little time between the incident and the draft that his name wasn't cleared in time, although it should have been.

I still think if Darrel Williams finds the right system, he is going to have more success than Guice in the NFL. Call me crazy, but I like Williams’ upside.

Different in they knew what the concern was for the NFL organizations
With Guice we presently do not know their actual concerns and even if there are any concerns that actually exist and yes the timing is different but, I am mostly referring to a possible flag

Yeah, and that team is going to be lucky to have such a good RB

Collins was never accused of anything. I'm not even sure he was a person of interest. It was just totally f'ked up timing.

To be fair, he did also say Guice was a top 4 RB in the draft and the best "Down hill thumper".

If you're going to make comments about a guy that could affect his near future, then you should say something more than these vague comments and have some substance behind them. Guice has lived through growing up in the ghetto, having his dad murdered at a young age and having his brother being arrested for attempted murder. With all that he has accomplished in the face of those challenges, he probably has more character in one of his dreads than some of these people making the vague comments have in their entire body.

Some of these NFL analysts act like the NFL is a giant church where guys are going to be alter boys. It's filled with a bunch of immature guys.

If Mayock was good he’d be on staff with a team.
Kiper is the worst. He has absolutely zero clue.

Ha! Should be working for ESPN. Obviously thinking about a certain Tiger DL. Yet another talking head.

That's all true. But Collins' situation was not helped when his agent/lawyer deferred him talking w/ the BRPD until after the draft. If he'd met w/ them earlier and been cleared by the police the draft might've turned out different for him.
