Our offensive line is composed of a Harvard transfer and two DL converts.

And we're all sitting around wondering why the OL is abysmal?

It starts and ends with recruiting, and at this point, that's all on Coach O. We watch every year as Ohio State, Bama, Georgia, and others reel in elite OL like it's nothing. Burrow masked a plethora of deficits with the OL last year.

Until we show that we can consistently recruit elite OL, nothing will change.

We need to be singing at least 4 or 5 o lineman a year with 2 or 3 of those at least being 4 or 5 star to be able to build a line to compete in the sec

I am very impressed with our center, he is very good. I hope he can stay another year.

Rosenthal was recruited with the idea he’d move to OL.

The first snaps Hines ever took were at OL, not DL.

Let’s not cloud the facts.

Dare and Hines were recruited to be OL, no matter what their recruiting profile says.

That’s dishonest. Many high school linemen play both ways. They are not “converted” anymore than they would be converted OL if they play on the DL.

There aren’t very many 5 star linemen and there aren’t enough 4 stars to fill every opening for every major program, so what you are saying is unrealistic for even the P5 schools who have major success recruiting O Line.

You are going to have to take some 3 star guys. That’s just how it is. You will have to have a few developmental and depth guys. But you do need to be pulling in 1 or 2 4 or 5 star guys each year as part of a 4 or 5 player set and you can’t have the attrition we’ve had.

For years, there has been an emphasis on recruiting skill position players, with the exception of QB... there has been a lack of emphasis on recruiting offensive and defensive linemen... Louisiana produces an abundance of talented skilled position players each year, but not too many big, talented linemen... should go out of state to get some linemen, which seems to be happening this year???

Which is exactly what I said. Glad we agree there. O lineman need longer to develop and are harder to gauge coming out of hs, but it would be nice to mix a few "sure things" in with the "projects."

Thomas was as close to a sure thing as it gets. 1 injury later and our fanbase has written him and Bradford off as busts.

Yeah I'm not throwing in the towel on Thomas and Bradford yet as they are still redshirt freshmen and will be next year as well, but youd like to see them contribute next year

I remember being excited about Deculus. That's how bad we've recruited there.

Yeah he got owned multiple times last night, even whiffing on quite a few. Hardly playing like a leader last night

Deculus wasn’t a bad recruit. He just hasn’t developed beyond being average with some better guys around him like last year.

Shanahan hasn't been the problem. He may not be of the quality of Cushenberry but he's not the reason sacks are coming through the guard tackle gap or why our tackles are getting pushed around

Rosenthal would have been a 5 star olineman coming out of high school. Bama wanted him. If I am not mistaken he wanted to play dline and thats what dinged him and why he cane to LSU recognized as such.

OMG!!! Someone from Harvard.

Which none of you Rantards could ever get into except as a tourist.

But since playing a Harvard transfer is so bad, why don't YOU do it? You know you could right? You still talk about that badass game you had in middle school. You know you can again.

fricking idiots.

I understand that. There are a combined total of 55 four & five star Offensive Tackles and Guards in the 2021 class (247)...and You dont think we're able to get at least 3 of them coming off a 15-0 season and a Joe Moore award? This is the cycle where we suppose to change that trend and we're not doing that.
Our last 3 classes have been awful on the offensive line.

I wouldn’t say last year was awful. Maybe 1 short but that wouldn’t have helped this year. Personally it looks like our linemen are sloppy looking. Out of shape Too heavy. Ingram and deculus look the part. Our dline looks horrible at the dt. Fat and sloppy. Hines looks short out there compared to others.
