I’m not sure how many people caught it but LSU was not lined up correctly on the opening kickoff. Kelly was yelling at people to move. Bech was still moving when the ball was kicked. Doesn’t excuse his muff but how do you go all week and not have the team prepared for a kickoff. Especially with how bad our special teams has been. Not only that, you won the coin toss and had time to discuss it then.

Yeah, Kelly explained it in the post game press conference. They knew the kicker was going to his right, and Bech was lined up left. They wanted him to catch because he’s the most sure-handed guy we have. He moved, but because the kick was into the wind and because he had a late start, Bech couldn’t get underneath it.

I thought they said Kelly yelled at Bech and the other returner to switch and Bech ran to the other side. If so that was ridiculous that it wasn't recognized until right at the KO.

Lack of attention to detail by this staff is alarming

He said on the radio show after when the guy had the holder, they told bech to move over for the un even side..to run it back..it was short into the wind and Bech over ran it coming up and mis judged it...

Thanks for the explanation from Kelly. Bech obviously still has to make that catch but there has to be some serious discussions about preparation because that’s as basic as it gets with preparation.
