Not sure if this guy (or these guys) hold any water, but I got the impression he was somewhat in the know:

We got a text late last night about Eli Ricks from a very good source:
“He was surprisingly close to leaving, but if it didn’t happen this past weekend, it won’t happen. O has been talking with him and it’s been going well.”

he added that nothing is rock solid with this. Damn near impossible to predict what a 19-20 year old is going to do at the end of the day.

I have never seen anything like this. A freshmen All American who will play along side another All American corner as a starter at DBU and he wants to (or wanted to) transfer? What in the world is going on?

These guys hold water.
First on Marshall opt out. First on Gilbert opt out.

Who now likely has Corey Raymond, an elite CB coach, and Daronte Jones, an NFL DB coach, as his two coaches.
Can you think of a better scenario for Ricks and Stingley?

It’s fricking Louisiana. If there’s no a social scene, what is there?
He’s from California. Literally the opposite of here

O better tell his buddy JBE to open things up, it's killing his out of state recruiting!

This is going to get more and more and more common everywhere except maybe Bama with the loosening of the transfer rules.

LSU needs to rethink some things on how they discipline players.

I get that it’s difficult to be in college with minimal to no social scene, but it’s not like any other place is different. Hopefully Ricks and his family stick around.

I don’t think you will see starters leaving as common. Maybe common to see a highly touted kid leave after a year.
This is on compliance which Ed and Scott should have pushed on the BOS when the capital was high from our NC to drop the hammer on them. Hopefully title 9 wipes out the compliance nazis

I hope they get Marcel back. He and Ricks were tight. It would be a morale boast.

LSU is a very fun place to go to college.....when there’s no pandemic. You bring these guys from California and Georgia in and take away the best thing about being here outside of football and you’re surprised they don’t have a good time?

I’ve listened to some pods. They are pretty open about joking about having sources. So not sure what to make of them.

If the rumors were that Ricks wanted to go back to California, I’d say yeah you’re right. But it’s hard to imagine Ohio being so much more fun socially than Louisiana (especially during covid) that it’d warrant a transfer

When is the last time Tosu suspended a player for pot?
That is what all of this is about.

Nothing to do with his thoughts on transferring.
These opt outs and transfers have nothing to do with homesickness or the social scene or the pandemic.

For what it's worth, these guys were saying that Jones was a done deal back when the company line was still "we're interviewing several candidates this week". I would trust this source.

Ohio is more locked down than Louisiana. Hell, Cali is more locked down than both.
