4. LSU

The Tigers’ offensive line was viewed as a weakness before the 2022 season, but after a strong showing from a pair of now-sophomore tackles in Will Campbell and Emery Jones, the group projects as a team strength in 2023. LSU brings back all five starters and has some additive depth pieces in 5-star freshman Zalance Heard and Maryland tackle transfer Mason Lunsford, among others.

To see lsu above bama after all the big time commits they’ve gotten over the years is something to behold. Especially after they have used their offensive line to wear down lsu in the past.

CBK's team & the team that CBK used to coach are 3 & 4.

It's such a breath of fresh air to have such a highly regarded offensive line going into the season, for a change.

A strong OL is the position group change I was looking forward to the most when CBK was announced.

Next year the OL will also be nasty. Part of the reason I think Nuss wants to stay.

Campbell and Jones might both end up going in the first or second round together. I think they are that talented.

The OL "Realignment" all initiated and evolved with the signing of Will "Baby Whitworth" Campbell. Fact!

CBK knows where the game is won. In the trenches. CBK knows football and what it takes to win. Glad we have him.

So did Coach O, but ....

This is the difference between the two, and Kelly actually brings in the recruits for the trenches.

think about last year at this time and our tight end position. We had a unproven true freshman in Mason Taylor and the rest was trash now look at this position in just one year. Brian Kelly built the OL and TE position to some of the best units on the team.

He’s actually rebuilding several positions from the ground up and that’s what Ed O wasn’t capable of doing or just didn’t do. I don’t think he knew exactly what it takes to get these kids to take preparation seriously but at the same time, I don’t think he was capable of getting the same type of coaches to come work for him at LSU as CBK does. His network of assistant coaches who would love to come work for him is light years ahead of what coach O could bring in at LSU.

He’s just a better HC overall, hands down and it’s not close. I think coach O could have won more and even won another championship but he could never sustain success like the great ones can. CBK knows how to build it from the ground up, no matter if LSU was landing 5* talent or not, he would still win lots of games and probably win a championship every 5 years or so. Being that it’s LSU and he can land the best talent the region can offer, he can do that much more frequently and sustain a championship caliber team here. It starts on the LOS (both sides) and at QB. I think CBK will finally be able to develop the QBs that come through here and those three components will be what takes LSU to the dynasty conversion in the coming years.

We will have a legitimate Heisman contender at QB this year and I can see a huge difference in his body language from last year to this one. He’s much more comfortable and confident which will translate to more relaxed play from him on the field. That will allow him to grow much faster throughout the season.

I can see a big season from J. Daniel’s this year. 3,700 yards passing and maybe 1,200 rushing with a combined 40+ TDs. We could see him hit 50. 40+ passing and the rest rushing. Kinda depends on the offense that they run but I think he will have that ability for sure. It will come down to our secondary gelling and that won’t be an easy task imo. Lots of talent but it’s got some question marks to say the least. If the transfer talent takes hold then I think we’ll be fine but if they win into some issues, I hope the finger pointing and blame game doesn’t take affect. They should be good enough to hold the scoring down below 25 on average and that should be good enough. The better team will score against this defense until we get the talent into place. Defense takes more time imo. We have the right coaches to get it done. I’m looking forward to what they do with this new team! Go Tigers!
