They’re 9-7 and still have a better student section than us. I don’t wanna hear if you win, they will come. I’m not blaming this on the students, LSU has to do something about this. They can’t pin students behind the goal and expect them to come.

They have not played football since Thanksgiving night. They are in full on basketball mode. Plus, we are LSU

I don't get it either.

People always say the ever-popular "This is a football state." Those people were not at games like 81 Ole Miss or the 86 first 2 rounds where people were in the aisles. And as past tense as that is, we won the SEC last year!

You would think this student section would be much more involved in basketball. Diversity, a hip hop culture that embraces hoops, and a much better system of parity within the teams...not to mention more games on kore channels and a growing interest in March Madness...the average LSU student should be excited to watch a good product.

Is it the lack of pregame tailgating and the absence of the "game before the game" and weeknight games too often hurting us? Someone needs to create something new. I hope Woodward sees it. Build something for the students pregame-wise that makes them come.

Whatever it is, Ole Miss has put about 2 dominant basketball teams in the last 30 years. The only other SEC student section that is smaller than ours that I have watched is Georgia's.

The LSU student section during the Arky game had a couple dozen folks in it and most of them looked like dirty hippies

Unlike LSU, they try to attract students. The students have better seats, the Pavilion is only a few years old and has the only Steak n’ Shake and Canes in Oxford. A lot of students go to the games just to eat.

Just for some historical perspective, when I was at LSU (78-81), the student section was usually pretty full. In fact, I would often try to get to a big game about 45-60 minutes early just to get a good seat. I can't remember if student tickets were free or not. (Perhaps someone else might know.)

Of course, this was when Dale Bown had the program in a roll.
And student seats were really decent in those days. Not behind the goals.

I haven't been in the PMAC since the early 80s, so I have no idea why students aren't going now. It's disappointing to hear this, however.

As an old alumni the new student section is a disgrace. Woodward needs to figure out how to fix what Aleva screwed up

Yet they show up at The Box.

Twenty plus years of sporadic success (moderate success other ‘06), mixed with mediocrity and sucking at times is what caused it. The 06 team was fun to watch and they had charisma and personality.
