Ole Miss has an outstanding o-line. They've given up only 3 sacks all season. Some of that is because they run the ball like 69% of the time. Also, their strength of schedule is 107th out of 131 schools.

That said, I don't care what your schedule is, giving up only 3 sacks through 7 games is impressive.

I know I'm stating the obvious, but this game will be determined by LSU's ability to stop the run on 2nd down and creating pressure on 3rd and medium to long.

Most teams, if they are held to short or no gain on first down will run the ball on second down. FSU was very successful running the ball on 2nd down. They consistently had 3rd and 2 or 3 yards after it was 2nd and 8.

Last thing, Harold Perkins will be the difference for LSU if they are to have any success against Ole Miss's o-line.

It’s time to figure out how to keep Perk on the field and that shouldn’t be hard considering his versatility. The other guy is Ward, I know he did a great job vs Miss. St. so we moved him into the box but overall he’s more suited and experienced playing FS. We need to go from flashing as a good defense to consistently being a good D where we know which players and from where we can count on guys.

Perkins might be the best player on the team... as a freshman.

LSU needs to make sure he's getting NIL money. They can't afford to lose him.

He’s definitely the most dynamic defensive player we have. You can line him up anywhere and he’ll make plays. He’s our 2nd best pass rusher by a hair, he’s made plays in coverage, he can spy, he’s great against the run, he even makes most of the special teams tackles. He needs to play as many snaps as anybody on D.

Perkins is a disrupter...needs to add a little bulk, then he will be a nightmare.

If he gets more than 30 snaps. Lane might use the Tennessee approach and force us to scheme Perkins off the field. I truly hope our staff learned.

I don’t like this game. The matchups seem to favor Ole Miss.

I’m glad people are getting on board and I think Kelly will have a national contender soon at LSU but I don’t like this game and I don’t like how the position matchups look

That's an excellent observation, OP. Tennessee has a great, veteran line as well, and they certainly beat us up front.

D-Line will have to play their best game this weekend. And, the linebackers will have to play their fits right because OM schemes very well and get them out of place.

The key to me is that Garner and Bernard-Converse can hold up in man coverage so we can sneak Brooks or Foucha down into the box for run support and passes to the perimeter.

Sacks per game:

Troy: 21st 2.7 spg
Central Arkansas: no clue
GA Tech: 50th 2.2 spg
Tulsa:131st 0.6 spg
Kentucky: 108th 1.3 spg
Vanderbilt: 108th 1.3 spg
Auburn: 63rd 2 spg
LSU:44th 2.3 spg

Central Ark, GA Tech, Auburn got the sacks. None of these Dlines jump out at you stat wise. Also, they’ve only passed over 20 attempts once on the season. Could be the reason they don’t give up many sacks. Bottom line we better be able to stop the run.

He needs to be play the marcel brooks role from 2019 and just be a pass rush specialist and occasionally drop back
