Ignorant or not, those folks seem to be the ones that write the checks. Obviously Al Davis saw JR's talent for more than just being a part of a NC team. However, if he doesn't "just win baby" he'll be looking for another job. And no, I don't think Al Davis is an idiot, I'd say he's done fairly well for himself.

by your logic, 31/32 nfl teams should have a new starting quarterback every season.

Not what I meant, just saying that as a pro JR will be graded on nothing more than winning. Sucks, I know but I think he'll do great.

how many regular season wins did LSU have in 2006?

how many regular season wins did LSU have in 2007?

JR "just won" at the same clip as flynn

do you think indy fans only started to support peyton after he finally won a superbowl?

No doubt. I got into it with a USC fan in the parking lot before the game. One of my kids opened the back door and barely let it touch this douche's car. Didn't even leave a mark in the dust. He got out of the car drunk as nine lords a leaping and wanted to fight.

Several other Carolina fans came over and got between us and told me not to pay any attention to him. They told me that our fans in BR had treated them awesome and no way would they let some drunk give me a hard time.

We'll be there in force. I got my LSU flag flying in front of the house and my Dad lives right down the road, same for him. It drives the damn Clemson fans nuts. They harass me all the time in church about those flags flying in Edgefield.

Sure it is but particularly in a sport where the championship is often described as "mythical" I don't think it can be the ultimate measure or even a tie-breaker. I am also of the opinion that quarterbacks are given too much credit for wins and losses (you don't see Texas Tech being touted as the team of the decade) but that is another discussion.

1. we're talking about college not pro.

2. peyton manning was still considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league and never had to worry aobut being cut for the first 8 years of his career. same with carson palmer. donovan mcnabb. drew brees.

I'm not sure about Colt's fans, I was talking more about the owners. An honest question, how long do you think Davis will give Jr to develop? I would guess with the amount of coin invested he'll have at least 5 years.

Not sure about those team owners. I just know that Davis has a reputation of being cut and dry with his players. Win or leave.

so when was the colts owner thinking about cutting peyton manning?

al davis is one of the worst owners in the nfl, by ALL accounts. he has single handidly ruined what used to be a very great franchise. so with him running things its impossible to tell.

and there is a difference between developing and winning a superbowl. as long as russell is doing things that mostly help the team win games, like manning and palmer and mcnabb, it wont matter if the team wins the superbowl or not.

......I'm with ya, tigerstros......there is no way in hell that anyone is going to convince me that JR was the BEST QB that LSU ever had.......that's pretty strong. Bert Jones and Tommy Hodson accomplished just as much during their day, and the talent arguably wasn't as good.

bert jones? maybe

way too long ago for me to judge, for a variety of reasons

but was tommy hodson ever the best QB in CFB? JR was in 2006

tigerstros has already proven in this thread that he has no idea what he is talking about with this statement:

He is pretty much all about himself, and it is now showing in Oakland, since he got his money, it looks like he does not give much of a shite except about eating

maybe there was better competition at the QB position in all of college football in hodson's years. He could still be the best LSU QB then.

then we can judge it by stats if you want

You know what was fun? Before the 06 season when people thought "Old JaMarcus" was like Vince Young, a big black guy who was a better runner than passer.

Those dark people sure do look alike to us crackas.
