I don't think that UF in 2006 was any better than we were last year, or

Their secondary was crap last year compared to what it was in 06.

Reggie Nelson was a beast.

injuries for Auburn '06 D, 1127, just excuses, man, nothing special about their D that year, that is why they got burned in games after LSU.

Oh and by the way Russell lovers, if my views on Russell piss you off, mission accomplished! frick off!
Well . . . aren't you the adult. Its not our fault that your asinine method of judging individual players based on team accomplishments makes no sense. Man up and say it big boy.

Tee Martin was a better college quarterback than Peyton Manning.
Bert Jones couldn't carry Matt Mauck's jock strap.
Trent Dilfer is twice the QB than Dan Marino could ever dream of being.

was LSU's D better when Glenn Dorsey and Charles Alexander were healthy, or were we better giving up 500 yards and 30 points to ole miss, alabama, arkansas, kentucky, etc?

Hey man its all about championships. Matt Mauck won one, Bert Jones didn't therefore Bert Jones can't carry Matt's (hell either Matt's) jock strap. He's an inferior quarterback that lacked the mental toughness to truly excel at the quarterback position. In other words he didn't have IT, that intangible immeasurable something that separates champions from the wanna-bes like Bert Jones. He might could sling it 100 yards but when it really mattered he buckled under pressure and could never bring home the big one. Facts are facts guys, take off the purple and gold glasses and see ole Bert for what he was; a failure.

he 1977 playoff game (known as Ghost to the Post) is famous as the 2nd longest game in NFL history (after the Dolphins-Chiefs double overtime playoff Dec. 25, 1971); the Colts fell to the Oakland Raiders, 37-31.

I rest my case.

The fact remains that when Flynn was given the snaps in practice, that a starter normally gets, he consistently moved the team, no matter the competition. The trophies at LSU prove it.

Your logic says that if WVU had beaten Pitt then there would be no proof of this?

Flynn and Mauck were always willing to sacrifice their bodies for the team

JR easily did so just as much.

Maybe that is a reason that the running game was more efficient when they were the quarterback. The defense always had to keep and eye on the quarterback.

So your claim is that AFTER Flynn handed off the ball, defenders still had to wait and keep an eye on him?

I mean, what is going on here, lol.

I haven't claimed Mauck & Flynn > Russell. But if Jamarcus threw to Dwayne Bowe, Craig Davis, and Early Doucet, while other QB's threw to Joe Schmo then wouldn't you say that JR had a better supporting cast around him?

That is true, but Mauck and Flynn weren't throwing to Joe Schmo now were they.

They were throwing to NFL or future NFL Wide receivers.

think that made Russell the best QB in college football that year

Who was better?

and 06 was the best year any qb at LSU ever had,

What QB had a better season?

quote:

Lets ask Auburn (3 points) and Florida (10 points, 3 interceptions, and a fumble at the one foot line)how fantastic Russell was

The fumble wasnt Russell's fault, but you wouldnt know that. Also, tell me how well we ran the ball in those 2 losses. I guess the lack of run is also JR's fault too.

quote:

If Russell could not even beat out Marcus Randall throughout the 04 season, thats all anyone needs to know about where Russell stands in LSU QB lore.

Ok, and what does that say about Flynn NEVER beating out JR?

JaMarcus was good.. But nothing incredible.. He had an awesome O-line and one of the best receivers for almost his entire LSU career.

Since SFP reviews stats and has a self proclaimed ability to notice trends I wonder why he never noticed the fact that the defense had to give up thirty-eight points and three overtimes for LSU to lose a game when Flynn was behind Center?
That is an amazing stat for any quarterback and even more spectacular when he is coupled with inexperienced receivers and an "average running back"

Which is why Bert Jones has and always will suck donkey balls. Winners overcome losers wonder why the other team won the championship trophy. All the Bert Jones dick riders need to wake up and realize that the three best quarterbacks in LSU history are Warren Rabb, Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn; in that order based on # of losses.
