Why couldn't Flynn get the offense moving against Tenn in 06 when he came in or against UGA in 05 when he came?

Pretty sure he only played one series Tenn 06 that started within our own 10 yard line. I am also pretty sure he had more TD passes against UGA in 05 than JR.

Flynn actually started against 3 of the top 5 defenses in the country (OSU, VT, AU)and was 3-0 with about 720 yards 8 TDs (1 of which was rushing) and only 2 interceptions. Nice try though.

you honestly think that they had better defenses then Florida 2006, Auburn 2006, Tennessee 2006, and Arkansas 2006?

Last year was a down year for defenses in the SEC

i know for a fact that the ACC's offenses were very week last year

First off, if you've followed the thread, I'm not a Flynn over Jamarcus guy. I'm just not calling Jamarcus the best QB ever at LSU. But....

quote:

so what youre saying is those were good games by flynn's standards, even though they generally amounted to average games by russell's standards, right?

I'm saying the Flynn led the team to big victories of top 10 opponents (Miami, VT, OSU). His stats don't matter because once you're up by 30 you can call the dogs off. Maybe it was Flynn's presence in the huddle, maybe he checked to the right running plays, maybe he ran for TD's and improvised and made plays (shovel pass to Hester).

quote:

and you still havent addressed the original reason this was even brought up: russell with a concussion >>>> flynn 100% healthy

I have said this several times and showed that in 2005, many said that JR had a hurt wrist, so that's his excuse for playing bad in some games. In 2006 vs UT, you say he had a concussion, and he did not have a good game. Flynn played one series in that game. But when Flynn was healthy (Miami, MsST, VTEch, OSU are the only games he was 100%) he was better than a hurt Jamarcus.

quote:

its no different than flynn severly underthrowing a receiver like in the kentucky or alabama games

I've never said that Flynn was the best QB in LSU history. Flynn was above avg./ good.

then i guess flynn did have more passing TDs(not that it matters because the game was over). but bringing up the UGA game in 05 for comparisons is stupid for several reasons.

Ohio State's regular season average opponent ranked 60th in scoring offense, and that doesn't include Youngstown St.

06 AU 7/19
06 Ark 24/26
06 UT 33/50
07 OSU 1/1

maybe not VT but AU and OSU yes. i don't recall Tennessee or Arkansas as having great defenses, but they did have good offenses. and AU in 06 appeared great against us but got torched in some games, it wasn't any better overall than it was last year. however, florida's defense in 06 was better than all of the above.

yea, they had some injuries after our game though. I hate playing auburn early in the year. I like it when its later because it seems like a bigger game

Arkansas had a pretty talented defense in 2006, but they were always on the field

Maybe but they sure had a lot less trouble stopping Michigan than big Florida from the SEC did. I don't doubt that they played lesser competition than we did, but to ignore the fact that OSU was #1 or close to it in just about every defensive category is insane. They had a very good defense with several very good players.

i'm not saying they didn't have a great defense, i just don't think it was the best. In 2006, I think Florida had the best. I think 2007 was a down year for college football

we also had to play all those 2006 teams on the road

I don't think that UF in 2006 was any better than we were last year, or the year before for that matter. Road games definitely played a factor, and we might have gotten some points taken away at AU by the refs, but there is no reason we should not have scored more than 3 points in that game. people can make all the excuses they want, but i'm not buying them.
