How do you guys think it'll shake out?

LT: Will Campbell, Cam Wire
LG: Tre'Mond Shorts, Emery jones,
C: Marlon Martinez, Charles Turner,
RG: Anthony Bradford, Miles Frazier
RT: Garrett Dellinger, Marcus Dumerville

I am thinking that this is the OL we see game 1 and then Emery Jones and Miles Frazier will be given opportunities to rotate in and earn PT. Maybe Dellinger starts at C instead of RT and in that case, Cam Wire probably starts at RT. I am also giving Bradford the start at RG because of much raw talent he seems to have but he could be replaced by Jones, Frazier, or Martinez if Delly plays C.

Is Fitzgerald West not in the mix for center?

Campbell, Frazier, and Shorts are starters. The rest is open.

I highly doubt an undersized DL converting to OL is in the mix to start in the SEC as a true freshman. I think he will one day be in the mix, but this year. I have heard that the 3 competing for C are Turner, Martinez, and Delinger.

From what I have read, Frazier is a little on the raw side so I wouldn't put him as a guaranteed starter. He may win a job, but I think he will have to earn it by beating out other guys.

Fair enough. Fitzy has the perfect frame and strength for center though. I hope he develops well there.

This is the SEC you don`t want 2 truefreshman starting
on the OL.There would be to many mistakes made at crutial
times to win games. Bear Bryant once said for every
freshman you start there is 1 loss. Freshman are exactly
what they are ,inexperienced and are learning. That don`t
cut it in the SEC.

As a true freshman definitely not

Center has really big responsibilities beyond just snapping the ball. Hard to trust any true freshman with that.

I think it’ll be:

LT: Campbell, Wire
LG: Shorts, Jones
C: Dellinger, Turner
RG: Bradford or Martinez
RT: Frazier, Dumervile

Frazier was the #1 OL in the portal. I’d bet he was promised a starting spot.

He was promised a fair shot . A little head start, but a fair shot is what he was promised.

That being said, that head start is dependent on outworking Bradford, Kardell, and Martinez due to experience and footwork/balance. He's definitely in the lead.

Noting nothing is settled yet, and it will be a little while yet. Reference Davis' "complacency" comments. There are frontrunners, no one is safe- yet.

I think this is how we start the season:
LT: Wire with Campbell playing alot. Noting Wire has experience on both sides.
LG: Shorts
C: Waiting on the leaves to change. Somebody not named Turner has to step up. (Martinez likely, Bradford possibly, Dellinger longshot a' la Pocic)
RG: Frazier
RT: Dellinger out working Dumervil and Martinez at C? Dellinger is fully rehabbed and is a sponge learning from some decent and some terrible outings last year (injury was a factor). Dellinger was thrown into the fire too early; it has a payoff likely this year.

If Campbell is gonna play alot, I'd rather the coaching staff just trust the kid and start him. Show the kid that you have confidence in him. You can always put Wire in if Campbell has a rough time out the gate.

A) Wire has turned into a good OT; took awhile, but he got there. He's done well in games... under fire.

B) Campbell will have to be tested under fire. Some of his playing time will depend on matchups. They aren't going to want him going against the best of the best in the SEC. The not so best he will get time against.

OT is a very technical position and at the same time requires brute force and agility to make those techniques work. If, under fire, he starts getting his lunch eaten he will start to lose those techniques and take physical shortcuts such as guessing. And it will get worse from there because when you start doing that as an OT the best of the best will take advantage of it and use it against you. The name of the game is to progress physically where you maintain your technique without having to resort to those shortcuts/guessing. That takes time. On the way there they don't want to risk losing that training. It will happen at times, but you don't want full games much less a whole season of it.

This is why, sometimes, you see raw OTs start the season doing well and steadily get worse. As the season progress they lose technique and, simultaneously, that lack of technique is showing up on film more and more often. Taking the injury out this is part of why Dellinger seemed to regress last year.

I thought Dumerville was gonna be a can’t miss stud for us; I’m ready for him to mature and take the next step up. Or it could just be wishful thinking

I realize it was a difficult match up for him but it was tough to watch Dellinger get dominated every play in the A&M game. It would also be surprising for Frazier not get an opportunity to start. I thought he was supposed to be the best transfer.

Was just about to ask the same thing, a lot of early spring reports said he was one of the best O-lineman and the only one to sometimes contain Maason Smith

I remember the past off season reports of Bradford being a stud. Then the season rolled around and he was nowhere to be found
